    Woah, woah.

Am I the only one that is putting two and two together? Who needs a digital video converter thingy when we have this?

The way I'm thinking is... Laptop + "standard" s-video out + the s-video to composite cable that comes with the laptop + this hack + "anytime camera video switch hack" + can scanner software for the laptop + fancy front-end = customizable CAN-VIEW.

With the power of a laptop in the mix... all sorts of fancy animations or graphics could be added to the MFD screen... abit with the "Check surroundings for safety" text...

If you've seen the flash prius transmission animation... imagine it hooked up like this:
    Mac Prius

    Cool stuff.

As far as I know, the only reason why the mfd-integrated can-view isn't made for the latest prius is because of the display screen changes from rgb to digital.

I believe the touch-screen sensor is component, but thats just a wild guess.

With the ability to display much more data on a screen, I don't even think multiple pages are even necessary or required. I mean, how often does can-view users play with the screen? I bet most people just keep it at a "favorite" screen or something 99% of the time.

    Re: What's this jack for?

I just got my 2008 last week.

Has anyone figured out the digital MFD connections ?

I'm interested in adding a backup camera, and ideally, a carputer to the MFD.

I have an HP TC4200 tablet computer and wonder if there is some way to interface it digitally to the MFD both for digital video, and as a digitizer for input.

I'd prefer a Linux solution, but also can Win XP if I must.

It will take some time, but I think CAN DO.

Time to round up the hardware and software hackers with access to Prius or Toyota equipment and figure this stuff out, IMO.

It HAS been done and here is one of the pioneers that has gotten other people started http://priuschat.com/forums/audio-electronics/15246-another-prius-carpc.html

The difficulty comes from seemlessly integrating with the IEBus. The solution above tricks the AVCAN into thinking you have a valid device attached that can transmit data and requests for network bandwith.

Hmmm, I got video into my car by buying a DVD player for a hundred bucks at the local pawn shop.... Nothing worth watching on TV anyways....;):D jf
