    I would like one that says;
    "ALL OTHERS PAY CASH"
Do you think they will bring that one out any time soon?

Considering it's Florida's state motto, I see no problem with it. Especially since it's going to be an optional plate.

They don't care about the plate so much, but the fact that the state have waived the specialty plate fee for it:

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - A legal complaint filed Monday challenges the constitutionality of the year-old law that created the "In God We Trust" specialty license plate, saying its supporters receive preferential treatment not available to supporters of other specialty plates.

The lawsuit filed in Marion Superior Court in Indianapolis claims motorists who request the "In God We Trust" plates receive preferential treatment because they do not have to pay a $15 administrative fee that the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles collects. The administrative fees are added to other fees whose proceeds promote the causes of the other specialty plates.

The plaintiff bringing the case, Mark Studler, said he pays an additional $40 for one of the popular environmental plates depicting an eagle above the word "Environment." Of the total fee, $25 goes to a state trust to purchase land set aside for conservation or recreational purposes and the remaining $15 is for the administration fee.

The 2006 law establishing the "In God We Trust" plate waives the administrative fee.

"Therefore, those who obtain an 'In God We Trust' license plate are afforded the opportunity to make an affirmative statement through display of the plate without any additional cost while Mr. Studler must pay additional fees for his environmental license plate," the complaint said.
Studler is being represented by the Indiana branch of the American Civil Liberties Union.

I wouldn't expect it to be an issue in Florida so long as the specialty plate fee is not waived.

Upon my recent move I was surprised to find that the State of Alabama already has an "In God We Trust" license plate. It is one of two "standard" plates that have no additional fee. I took the "Stars fell on Alabama" plate instead. Talk about a stupid motto. Why would a State be proud of a meteor shower?

I'd pay a $25.00 to put an "In Allah We Trust" license plate on my Ford Pickup. If I had a Ford Pickup, which I don't.

Think of how much money states could make if they produced a fill-in-the-blank license plate!

    In ________ we trust

Pay a reasonable fee (say $25.00) and get your diety/ideology/company/popular culture reference of choice.

I heard that the reason Indiana waived the fee was so the ACLU couldn't claim that the state was profiting from a religious statement. Just face it, the ACLU wouldn't be happy with or without the fee. I have one and would have gladly paid the fee.

    Stupid plate, stupid saying.

God should not be forced at all. It was not something we had on our money until, what, 60 years ago or something? It should not be on a plate.

But then again, I am all for simple plates anyway. In fact, let's just have bar codes that the cops can scan from a distance. Simplify, right?

I have the IGWT plate on my Prius as well... In Indiana, most any organization or group can petition the state to have a 'vanity plate' by collecting enough signatures on a petition.

Maybe I should be offended that all the other organizations are getting revenue from the state and God is not... Indiana would be better off if they charged extra for the IGWT plate and just set God's check aside each month for when he is ready to pick it up. Maybe it would fix our property tax issues...

I have always wondered how anyone could read the establishment clause of the constitution and believe that establishing law and precedent that keeps people from the free practice of their respective religion is acceptable (even in the public square). Somehow we have lost touch with the America where everyone compromises for the betterment of society to a group of individuals that feel like they should be able to get there way all the time.

Enough of the soapbox... I like the license plate, i would have paid extra for it. If you want a different one, start collecting signatures, or simply choose a different plate when you at the BMV counter...
