Ha. Made me laugh. Offering? They've offered nothing but a press release. There is no product here. Nothing to guarantee. In fact, they aren't making it because (according to them) the batteries aren't ready yet.

They're basically saying, "Hey, look how neat this would be if we DID build one that had all these neat features."

And my favorite part is that same idiots who have been saying that 100 miles of range is not enough, are now saying that 40 miles of range means that "I might never put gasoline in this car!"

No, but there ARE a few tailgaters, bright beam flashers, etc. Sigh, you missed the point though. GM offers NOTHING but a, "look what we'll do maybe someday" statement. And as others already said, they've made this phony claim before. Thus, I stated that the, "already in existence" REAL world Prius can do what the fake GM vaperware car does ... and it does it RIGHT NOW ... HERE ... in 2007, whereas GM's FAKE care, the Volt, will only do it under EPA / non-real world conditions ... get it? So, what's worth getting all excited over nothing? GM is so far off the mark that they don't even realize their imaginary car ad is bogus ... like when the Pope ... when he had to address the Church's child molesting priest issue. The Church said, "ok, from now on if we hear of even ONE molestation, we are going to turn you in ... if it happens again". Get it? THAT'S how far GM is out there ... we are talking out there on PLUTO.

I like my Prius, too. However, I won't hesistate to look at a Volt or something from Subaru, Ford, Honda, etc.

Some of you guys are so silly with this anti-GM stuff. GM could come out with a car that eclipses the Prius in performance, handling, gas mileage, features and comfort and costs $5k less, and you would still say complain that it's from GM.

Competition makes both sides better. Toyota resisted making a Prius plug-in until GM said they were making one. Those that wanted plug-in Prees from Toyota can thank GM for that.

They didn't "announce" anything. It was just an engineering concept, which lead directly to the 2mode system you can go out and buy now. Or ride on if you were a public transportation kind of person.

Idiots? Pot meet kettle. The 100 mile range was for a pure electric vehicle, and they're right. It's really not enough. After you've used up those 100 miles, you have to plug it in overnight.

In their new system, after the 40 miles of charge runs out, the gas or diesel engine simply acts like a generator to recharge the batteries and get juice to the electric drive motors. You won't be left stranded.

It's more than enough for me....and about 50 million more in the USA. Guess that market is too small.

Same here, 100 miles would be more than enough for our around town vehicle, with only needing the Prius for longer trips.

Me too, EV1 would be an almost perfect commuter car... 100 mi range is enough for me 99% of the time for daily use.

They could, but they won't. GM has no concept of quality or customer service. I'll believe GM can build a quality hybrid when GM's vehicle outranks Toyota's. I've got a better chance of growing hair.

I'd like to believe, that they are: Chevy: Fuel Technology Dialogue

They have the muscle and the resources to do something good. Keep your fingers crossed.

If GM fans think Prius is ugly what will they think of this

Toyota should have put a copyright on that side window shape as a trademark, everyone is copying it.

Apart from the large red decal in front (and perhaps the overemphasized front "gills,") I actually think this looks good....

But then, I think the Prius looks way better than 90% of the Toyota/Lexus line up.
