Hello everyone. My name is Karen. I am loving my new red 2008 Prius. I have package 6 and am really enjoying all the TOYS it has. I am pretty good at tech stuff.....so haven't had any problem using the phone or the nav system. It is fun to learn.........BUT..........please help me.

I am unable to get my Home Link to open my garage door. I have programmed and re-programmed. the lights go through all they ar supposed to.....indicates system has linked by the solid red light. HOWEVER....it will not open my garage door. I have a Sears Best door opener........date on my remote is 1994 (so I guess that is the date we put the opener in....can't remember) I am frustrated.....and keep thinking if I try one more time it will work. No such luck.

    Can anyone help me?

Hi Karen! Oddly enough, it took me about 40 times to get the Home Link to recognize my garage door. The one thing I did notice about it, however, was once it worked, I had to hold down the Home Link button for several seconds in order to test it to make sure it worked. Unlike my regular garage door opener, the Home Link takes a few seconds to transmit the signal (my normal garage door opener took a press - about a second). You might try holding it down once the process is complete (after all the lights have flashed out) and see if maybe that isn't the problem.

Hope this helps! :) (And yeah, I'm LOVING all the gadgets in this car!!!)

Thanks for the advice. 40 TIMES!?? I must admit I have probably only tried 10 times!
I have tried to hold the butten for MANY seconds...........it just stays red but doesn't open anything. Thanks for the idea though!

When you program mine you have to keep pressing the homelink until it flashes, this happens after it stays on solid. try that

Thanks! When I have programmed the buttons I have held them a LONG time. At first the light is steady, then it flashes slowly then it flashes quickly and then it stops. After that it indicates that it has been programmed. However when I press it, even if I hold it a long time, the garage door does not open. Sigh!

It took me a while to get Homelink to work for me too. I don't know if it was the real problem or not, but I think turning the car ON (light on the mirror is green) before trying to program helped me. Here was my procedure:
    1. Try to program both garage doors unsuccessfully many times with the car turned off.
    2. Turn the car/mirror on.
    3. Clear the homelink memory (I think by pressing & holding buttons 1 & 3 for 20 seconds or so).
    4. Program homelink according to the directions.

    Good luck!
