On the right lever - you have three settings: OFF, Park, ON.

Dim light is parking light and big light is the headlights. If you are trying to illuminate the parking lights on only one side of the car, i.e., only on the driver's or passenger's side, as I could do with my old MBZ, the Prius does not have the ability to do that.

You are going to run down your 12v battery. There are numerous threads on that peril.

In the U.S. versions, that is what is supposed to happen.

"Parking lights" turns on front amber (or what ever color they are) "parking lights", rear license plate light, taillights and the instrument panel illumination. Reason for rear lighting: If you are parked and need the parking lights, will you be more likely to be run into by a car from the front, or a car from the rear that doesn't see your's because all rear lighting is off?

I agree w/ IsrAmeriPrius' statement, that due to the Prius' small (miniature) 12 v battery, leaving parking lights on and car off will quickly run down the battery. (That is unless you perform a LED mod.)

I think the discussion is at cross-purposes.

The parking lights being looked for could be the German style were only one side of the car parking lights come on for on-street parking.

From the off position you turn the switch to the left, the first position is only the right side lights, turn to the left one more and you have just the left side lights on.

From the off position the turn to the right is the normal sidelights, then the headlights.

This is the Merc system not Toyota.
