Not unless it causes some damage to the car and then can only void the warranty for related/affected parts. IOW putting in a new stereo can't damage your ICE and, thus, the ICE warranty wouldn't be affected even if you stereo fried the rest of the audio system.

If it is the stereo causing the problem you're out of luck and rightly stuck with the bill. If you can prove it wasn't your stereo (not going to be easy) you may have a case for a claim that the cost should be covered by the warranty.

But from what you've told us I think you are responsible for the charge.

The stock stereo is integrated into the steering wheel and screen controls and displays. Removing or significantly modifying the stock system might confuse ther ECUs that control the display.

What stereo mods did you make?

I installed a vr3 which has gps and plays mp3 it is nothing special i used a wiring harnes from best buy all the wires matchup power to power speaker to speaker and so on.
I recal speaking to service guy and i told him that my car was missing and i showed im a very fauled plug i replaced and he told me the technition said there were no codes registering in the system and that my car was fine. so now that my car went in for recall of the steering shaft all of the problems started i sudenly have codes coming in left and right. all of the sudden they want to blame it on the stereo and power inverter i installed
SInce these devices have been running in my car for the last 3 months no problem i find it hard to beleive they are the culprate.
