Aren't those light cycles just the coolest? Don't look at them too hard, though. How the heck does the front wheel stay on?

    Electromagnetic induction. Like maglev trains.

These are entirely electronic creatures, remember. Ordinary laws of physics do not apply.

Yep, that is probably what they did. Because if you look at the rear axle it has to have the smallest ground clearance vehicle GM ever sold! Totally useless in any camp ground in north america!!! That axle will hang up on the hump in the middle of the dirt access paths.

I am sorry that I started this thread. I have a reconsidered my views and take back my statement about the prius being ugly.

Would the forum administrator please delete this thread?

Not now. We're having too much fun with it. Have you changed your mind about the Prius being ugly, or are you tired of the flak? You're perfectly entitled to your own opinion, but you can't really have expected all these nice Prius owners to agree with you. ;)

I was actually thinking about this thread while I was driving this morning. I thought of this:

    Some buy form.
    Some buy function.

Google Citroen Picasso. Looks a bit Prius-like to me. I think if you want to move about this many cubic meters of enclosed volume through air at about 60 mph, this is one of the more efficient shapes to do it.

I attempted to bring it to a quick end, but sometimes a topic just needs to run its course.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I will admit, there was a time I honestly thought the Prius was ugly, but some things grow on you and I believe it is beautiful now.

One car I think is but ugly is a Nissan Quest minivan, but I am sure there are those who have bought one must think they look good.

I think that Citreon Picaso looks kind of cool.

ANd I think a Pontiac Azteck is real ugly, but some people must think they are beautiful, or they wouldn't sell.

I doubt that calling Prius' body ugly is a fast way to win friends and influence people here at Prius Chat though

This thread got me thinking about a truck I saw in Florida about 25 years ago. It was called the "Board Ford." I only know that because it was routed into the back end. I suspect the body of the truck had started to rust away and the owner decided to do body repair on the cheap by replacing them with wooden boards. When I saw the truck it was completely covered with boards except for the chrome bumpers. It was so ugly that it was interesting to look at. I think it was kicked off the road soon after because Florida still had safety inspections at the time.

I tried to find a picture of it but no luck.

I think the Citroen Picasso looks OK apart from the stupid chrome strips across the front, yuk!!

I think it's little sister the C4 Sedan looks quite good while new but no doubt it will fall apart soon enough.

I think the basis of this argument is this:

"If Toyota had done "blah" they would sell more Priuses"

Well, they sell every Prius they can get to a dealer's lot, and some dealers still have wait lists even after 4 years of the gen II being on the market. I don't think they could sell more Priuses.

Its not for everyone (I don't care for it), but to say Toyota made any mistakes at all when designing it is absolutely unfounded because they car has been an unbelievable runaway success.

if toyota can not build more priuses
then there is a problem with the building of hybrid cars
the toyota prius is not the nr selling car of toyota....

But for me, I chose to buy the Prius (Not Honda or GM Hybrids) is because of its High MPG Hybrid Synergy Drive, decent Passenger & Cargo volumes and some cool gadgets like HID, LED Brake Lights and Bluetooth, etc. not usually available on car in this class. The look is not my 'driving-factor' for its purchase.

But its unique form has certainly grown on me, and I do think current Prius' look is pretty iconic in the Hybrid category.
