:( This mourning!still dark! I had my first accident with my prius.I was on my way to work heading north and while turning onto a west bound road at a three way intersection i was hit in my drivers side back by a large semi either turning north or south onto the road i was just leaving.I came to the intersection with a blinking yellow!saw the semi two my left at the intersection and proceded to give him a wide berth as i turned onto the west bound road when bang from the back when i almost completed the turn.I got a ticket that said i was at fault because the other driver said he had stopped and was starting to cross the intersection while i passing him and turning onto the street to his left. The way i saw it is that as i got to the intersection i saw the truck to my left stopped at the corner and i proceded to turn onto his street while staying as far as i could away from him.But i guess that wasnt good enough.Sorry about the long discussion!hope i said it right! Here is a few pics.It drivable but the tire is alittle off alignment due to the inpact. Its at the bodyshop now and the only good thing i can say about today is that the shop gave me a free loaner.

Ouch, that sucks! When you think you did the right thing in driving but end up getting hit and a ticket too!
Looks like the damage mostly at the rear quarter panel, a good body shop will fix it like new in no time.

I am sorry to hear that. Glad you are ok. It will look as new when you get it fixed. Hopefully your insurace will cover most of it.

My ordeal cost me 400 out of pocket for a rental. Ins covered another 600.
And my deductible was 500 so for the car $8900 damage plus $1100 rental cost me a total of $900 for the car and $110 for a ticket with drivers course and no record on my license. Still sore tho. And yes its as good as new and drives the same. Im amazed considering i bent the left frame rail that needed to be replaced. etc etc.

OMG, that's almost the same spot as my accident almost 2 weeks ago. Here's my pic...

This is my first accident in over a decade. Luckily my policy will cover the $5,000 worth of damage, less a $500 deductible, plus all but about $80 of my rental fees.

Ruined the axle and the door assembly. I'm heartbroken, so I definitely empathize with you!

Sorry to hear about your accident. Good thing you weren't injured. How much were the estimates?

    Ok.

I'll bore you with my dad's car:

    This is what happened:

While driving on the motorway my father fell to sleep. The car went on it's own with cruise set at 50 mph towards the right and evetually hit the guardrail.

the car took off, in that moment my father woke up to find himself landing on it's side. The car slid on the tarmac until it ran out of kinetic energy.

The car was repaired for 11.000 €

I had a rough estimate when i brought the car to the garage! around $3000.The car seemed to drive well after the hit but the guy at the garage pointed out to me that the wheel was tilted in slightly from the inpact!Im still pissed that i got a ticket though,I felt i was completely in the right.$102 ticket.

The car was given back to the dealer in exchange of a "Km 0" one.

The dealer repaired it, used it as a demo car then sold it for 17.000 €
