First accident with my 06 prius Oh the pain!!

    Looks like the car frame held up pretty well from the side-skid, most of the damage were on the body panels and paint only.

    Still, how could the dealer take it in for exchange (No cost for another new Prius?) but not the insurance company? I'd be saying Wow too.

    The "Km 0" Prius with NAV had a 23.000€ sticker, the Blue Prius was valued at 7000€, therefore my father coughed up 16.000€. (I would not have done it)

    Not the insurance cough up that 16k euros?

    Got to say if the car saved my life in such ordeal, I'll be in no doubt buying the exact same car as a replacement too! Its safety record has already been proven....by myself. ;)

    Just got the damage report! $6400.They said car may be ready by end of next week.I cant wait!!! Im used of putting gas in every other week instead of each week which i do with the loaner they gave me.It will be verry nice to have my prius back.I hope they do a good job.

    Wow, $6400, that's almost 1/4 of the car price.
    Is Prius really this expensive to fix?

    What parts are involved for replacement, and the most expensive part is?
    All OEM parts too?

    my dad was doing ~35 in mine when we wrecked. Airbags NEVER went off.

    less than 2 minutes after the car accident, thats my sister crying in pain in the front seat on the phone with the cops. My dad is ready to barf hanging out of the drivers door.

    Her car was totaled, and she was at fault for trying to turn without the proper signal. Also, she had no drivers license, and conviently spoke no English at the time of the accident.

    and being repaired:

    total cost to repair it: almost $10,000 with all the hidden damage.

    Sorry to hear about the accident. I was rear ended about 6 months ago but not my fault. Got repaired just fine, except that when I got the vehicle from the shop the mileage was waaaay down. Turned out I also needed an alignment, and mileage went back to normal. All OK now! :lol:

    It may not be universal but offset crash testing into a barrier with a deformable aluminium structure is normal in ANCAP testing here in Oz.

    yes they are. lack of extra parts, aluminum body parts all play a part. i totaled my 04 because i sideswiped an F 150. it put a one inch deep scrape along the entire left side of the car. that was all the damage done. collision was so slight that my SO was dozing in car and didnt realize we were in the accident because there was no impact to feel.

    my repair costs were something like $14,000... so they totaled it. the other girl's insurance company paid me $23,800 and sent me on my way
