Ok, people can't get out of the back seat of my car because the door won't open. I just had clients for the first time in my car and it was really embarassing to have to open the door for them each time. I know I have a child safety back door lock but I tried it in every position possible. Is there another safety latch somewhere that I don't know about? I have never felt more stupid in my entire life.

It isn't simply a matter of unlocking the doors, is it? I've had people try to open the back doors when they are still locked. They don't unlock when you pull the inside handle, but have to be unlocked by hand or from the front switch.

Flip the little "child safety door lock" button on the rear edge of the doors.

Yes, it's in the owner's manual.

I've got to get one of those! My used Prius didn't come with one.

Yes, you do. You also have to get the scheduled maintenance guide (a separate document). More so than for most cars, reading and following these will save you expense and trouble with your Prius.
