haha.. its an 05 Evo VIII with 22k on the clock. yep! its quite a change but i have an 07 yaris hb to introduce me to the other side of the spectrum. i thought about it for over a year and the cost to run the evo versus another car won me over. maintenance is just too high for the evo. not counting the insurance and those kids who try and race me with their integra gsr or srt-4 on the freeway. it was just getting ridiculous. plus i have only seen evos go past 100k and that's a rarity for a mitsu unlike the prius which i can drive 30k miles a year.

Something I like about driving a Prius is if I race a ricer and win I can tell my friends.

    Congratulations!

Welcome to PriusChat, rexg, and double congratulations! I hope you find, as many do, that the Prius changes you as a driver, for the better. The instrumentation, and instant feedback, make you aware of exactly what's going on under the hood.

My wife and I waited a couple of years before getting our second Prius. I'm glad you made the right move from the start!

Welcome to the forum rexg. Your mpg will be much better than that EVO. Maintaining it is a breeze.

thanks for the warm welcome everyone. im glad that i have a new found family. we had the cars tinted right away and everything from the purchase to the tinting was done at 5pm. we got the formula one comfort series. 15% in the back and 50% up front. good tint job for $206 otd per car. ceramic was a bit more but buying two cars and having them tinted all in one day burns a deep hole in the pocket. this is the first time i have a tinted car and worse in california (uv shield is the only one you can technically install) so i hope since i would not be tasking the ac too much in the summer, that will get me more mpg!(in theory of course)

On my previous Prius, Limo Tinting (5%) here in Delaware made a noticeable difference in AC function and MPG. I also use a windshield sunshade to truly keep everything out. perfect for cuddling with the misses too :D

ohh >.<. Bah, I need to relearn the differences between the VIII and the IX. The changes are too subtle!!

the only obvious difference bet the viii and the ix is the front end. the grille is the most obvious, the ix has a floating emblem.

the yaris is a very good car. very simple and straighforward. i get pushed a lot in the high winds though. road noise is also killing me. compared to the evo it was really quiet but i still could not use my cellphone without anyone complaining of the windnoise. i get 38.6 mpg avg. high was 40.5mpg on one tank.

Nice Evo you got there. I myself may make a big change to... E46 M3 nicely modded to Prius... need money for business... sucks but I gotta be a man about it.

On the other hand, makes my wife happy because she hates my M3.. loud and i drive like a mad man she said.

I dont know when I will do this but definately need to do some research here. :(

Welcome. I bought mine in Jan 06, and decided to keep my Impreza as a weekend auto-x and fun car. In just over 2 yrs, the prius has 53,000 + and the Sube has done less than 3,000 miles. I bought the Prius to keep miles off the Sube, which was at 85,000. ( I commute about 90 a day). It is fun to sneak up on other ricer cars, and out torque them at the stop light with the prius. Fun comes in lots of ways.

Too funny...I just put a deposit on a Black #6 here in Austin and I'm trading my heavily modded E46 M3 in for it. We have a 10month old baby and I refuse to put him in my M3 (I have 650lbs springs) because I'm afraid he'll get shaken baby syndrome from the suspension set up. My first experience was when my M3 was stolen in LA, I rented one for about 6 weeks while they recovered and repaired my M3. The funny thing is, I was a little disappointed to give back the Prius at the end of the six weeks. I just loved the anonymity of driving the Prius, it is so easy to just let people drive on by as I drive 70 in a 70...I am somehow physically unable to do that in my M3...LOL. Anyways, I did a lot of thinking about it before pulling the trigger and I don't think I'm going to regret it at all...good luck either way you go!

hehehe... i was thinking of getting an e46 m3 a few months ago too after one swooped by me while running about 140 in a remote freeway. those things have a great top end. i used to have a clk430 and it was a highway cruiser unlike the evo.
