What do you use for keeping track of your maintenance?

I use the maintenance passport that came with the Prius. It has all the details of what service is needed, and when and a place to record the mileage and date when you did it. what more could you need?

The odometer and the owner's manual.

 

I use excel. Keep a print of current tanks in car with a grid to record new tanks and other notes on maintenance.

I set up the scheduled maintenance items with time/mileage intervals. Then when I enter odometer reading in excel, it takes that and the system date and shows how long until <past> the recommended intervals for both miles and time.

Otherwise, I won't remember all the items.

PITA to set up the first car, but it works for me.

How about the Maintenance feature of the MFD Info page. It will trigger a visual reminder of most every concievable maintenace item and a couple custom ones too.

 

I use a couple of simple spreadsheets. One for maintenance and one for gas purchases and mileage. I have attached each of them in PDF form. I have used these forms for several years and they do what I need to do.

 

Me too. A little spiral bound pad that I keep in the center console. I use it as a "Chron File" for my Prius -- a running record of my gas fill-ups, milege, modifications and maintenance.

Pen and paper. It works.

 

I'm using a spreadsheet.

Right now I'm trying to figure out why my calculated mileage based on miles driven divided by tank refill gallons is so different than the mileage given by the Prius itself.

Prius says 52.1mpg, but my miles/tank calculation says 44mpg.

 

That's what we use ... coupled with the shoe box full of dated receipts.

 

I looked at your maintenance log - how do you actually balance the tires yourself? Do you have a machine?

 

The maintenance screens are included with the Navigation system.

 

I use a Vehicle Maintenance logbook which I get at Office Depot.

 

Cars have been our family's hobby for years. We actually have a computer balancing machine like the one in the tire stores. Put the wheel on, enter info. (wheel width, wheel diameter, position and type of weights), lower the hood. The machine spins the wheel then tells you how much and where to place the weights. We also have a state of the art tire mounting machine to go along with the balancer.

 

Ahhh! That explains it I had wanted on more than one occasion to go out and buy one of these after repeated unsuccessful balancing acts by various tire install establishments... But then I'd need a bigger garage too.
