Thanks tons for your supported response! I've swiped much of it to be included in my "EVs won't work because..." page.

    Thx

    A few more fun facts:

The 3,000,000,000,000 (3T) miles American's drive every year is:
-120,000,000 (120M) time around the globe
-6,279,908 (6.28M) round trips to the moon
-85,000 trips to Mars (at its closest)
-17,000 round trips to the sun
-980 trips to Pluto (using New Horizon's planned route)
    -1/2 a light year
-1/8th the distance to the nearest star

northern CA speed limits are 70 but i drove San Jose to San Francisco on 280/101 for years... average speed??.... 40 mph... posted speed only seen before 5 am or after 7 pm.

during daylight hours AND non rush hour times, you could probably weave in and out (easy to do with 4 to 6 lanes) and do 65-70 maybe... but even in the middle of the day you were lucky to do 55-60 mph... now that was during $.70 gas... maybe different now...

Guess I didn't go far north enough lol. I stopped at SF.

Hmmm... you don't want to know our average speed then :p.

    SF Bay Area speed limits

If you're referring to the SF Bay Area, they most certainly are not 70 mph. If you're referring to areas much further north like Redding via I-5, yeah probably (haven't been up through there in ~12 years).

I go up and down 85 and 101 between San Jose and Mountain View, 101 between SF and Mountain View, 280 SF and San Jose and 880 between San Jose and Milpitas and it is NOT 70 mph anywhere. It's usually 65 mph and on some parts of 101 it's only 55 mph.

I-5 between Gilroy and LA IIRC has a 70 mph limit (or possibly above), don't remember now.
