    Great Site !!

I see that few of the other fast car enthusiast has already traded in their ride.. I traded in my 04 350Z for a new 08 Prius. As others had mentioned, I miss the speed and the torque of my Fairlady but I'm really starting to fall in love with my Prius (now 3 days old).

I will be learning a lot from all of your guys/gals so thank you in advance.

Yes! It is a differnent type of driving. It is really entertaining, but in a different way. My friends have pointed out that I refer to accelleration like a plane pilot, in terms of percentage. And percent in latin meaning hundred, that we say like in a hundred I guess it's right. I say I am applying 30% throttle or something. You begin to think that way, and treat your car more like a transportation machine, rather than something thrilling and wasteful. Mind you, I still think driving vehicles as a recreation is great! Just not as your every day commute. If everyone in the world switched to a vehicle based on simple transportation, and then on weekends got into something more powerful, we would still come out ok. I enjoy driving really fast cars, but when I'm going to school I am just thinking about class and not wanting pep, or an exhilerating ride. (Same applies when I am driving to/from work.) Welcome to the world! It is a wonderful car loaded with wonderful features!

My newest vehicle before my new Prius was a 1978 280Z which I have up for sale now.
I put many miles and a lot of work into the Z but the Prius is a whole new ballgame. I really like my Prius and am thankful for this site and the info here.
BTW :welcome: and post a pic.

    Welcome,

Be careful you can still get ticketed! These little cars run great at 70-80 on the highway and still get 40 mpg!

I do miss the driving schools in my old Z at Lime Rock, CT.

But the world is a different place now and $4.00 per gal gas is on the horizon this summer. You love it at the gas pumps.

    Best of Luck,
    Dave

thats a good point, I feel like most drivers only think of driving as how can i get in front of this guy in front of me.

I feel subject to this at well. It takes a lot of effort to realize that it doesnt matter as much as you think to pass the next guy. Sadly this doesnt sink in for a lot of people.

In fact, the only way I was able to realize it is after I bought my prius so I dont have a lot of hope for john civic and jane explorer to realize it anytime soon

Farseide, did you ever happen to track your mpg in that 350Z?

I know fueleconomy says its at 25 highway/17 city but with all that horsepower and torque the tendency to drive a little faster is more tempting. Would you agree that the mpg is probably a lot lower?

    What a great site!!

I too traded in a 05 350Z Touring. It was fun and fast...hit 120 once on the way to Vegas! I was averaging 18/24 MPG in the Z!
But I really like my new 08 Prius #5 that is now two weeks new. I like all the technology...Phone, NAV, MPG, etc.
I really got the itch for the Prius after riding in my son's new 08 Prius #2 that he bought in December.

    Take Care,
    Ach

I babied my Z too much to track...its kinda of ironic cause I spent well over 10G on aftermarket parts and only put 20K on the car after 4 years.. and ended up trading it in. If I knew I was gonna get the Prius, I would have rode her littler harder :).

As for the gas mileage, its pretty close to the stated mileage but you never drive "normally". You are always downshifting and always driving in a gear lower than where it should be...

Thanks all for your kind words...

And Hello to all other Fairlady owners !!
