Meanwhile, between them and Brazil, they burn down more rain forrest daily, than the size of Rhode Island ... all so they can grow a few seasons of cheep fuel (feed for catle, and grains to make cheep ethonon). The soil is virtually steril, so they have to keep burning down more rain forrest, because they don't reinvest by putting (fossel fuel) nitrogen/chemicle fertilizer back into the soil. Yea, they'll last long doing that. Be glad, be very glad we're not them.

except that if gas up by 33% from where it is today. it goes up by that amount for everyone. So we'll be paying 33% more too... Don't be to smug ;)

OK, so Venezuela isn't the best example of higher gas prices. But looking at the other end of the spectrum, and considering the global average, US prices are comparatively cheap.

With apologies for being smug: My Zap Xebra uses no gas at all. I just plug it into the wall. :car: :pound::clap2:

    I was being sarcastic.

2 years ago, while I was in Lima Peru, gas there was $12 per gal. while Venezuela was $0.12.

We were at $2.50 and bitch en

When's the last time Bush bought a tank of gas?

I paid $3.35 today at CostCo. I expect it to go much higher in the next few months.

Yeah, its fun to make fun of Bush, but when was the last time any president pumped his own gas. Or ex-president for that matter. Reminds me of Bush, Sr's gaffe while campaigning in a grocery store and being amazed by a laser scanner. Probably the 1st time he'd been at a checkout stand since 1980, but contributed to the charge he was out of touch with regular people. Must run in the family.

Yeah, now there's a guy who has been making tons of money in the oil business all of his life. And he thinks we've reached all-time peak production. I call that a pretty fair indicator:

Agreed. Love him or hate him, I put a lot of stock (figuratively) in his opinions on oil and energy since he is much more knowledgeable than the talk show pundits I hear spouting about how there is enough oil for many many years. Pickens is investing into wind energy as well:

What really cracks me up are the "head in the sand" and "conspiracy" folks, who, with no data to state otherwise, simply say, "oh there's plenty of oil ... another 100 years worth ... it's only going up because of oil company collusion ... what we all should do to teach the oil companies a lesson, is to not buy any gas on the 2nd Wednesday of the month ... that'll show 'em".

When the next (ever increasing) price hike hits, these folk's local congresman molifies them by simply stating (again and again), "well, we are going to have to have an investigation into this matter"

    Wooo, that always helps :D

I love how in the first link he talks about $60/barrel oil as being expensive and $70/barrel quite so. Ha. How the times have changed in ~3 years.

Perception has really changed about what is a good price for oil. He has been pretty consistent in his predictions of rising oil prices in the face of those who thought he was crazy to predict $100 oil 6 months ago. He did recently say that he say the price decreasing in the 2nd quarter to about $85, but then back above $100 sometime in the 3rd quarter. Interesting enough, while typing this post, I heard on the radio that oil was a $107.XX a barrel (up $2).

Hell, the next generation will look back fondly on the days when there was gasoline, and curse our generation for squandering it all!
