if i drive every day short trips then i better buy a smaller car

so what can i do to make that better?
i think i really need to make it plug-in SOON

    edit
even wurst 7,8l-100 on 5 km now:mad: i try the heavy foot ( but no racing )

ok i am feeling a bit under the weather wright now:rain:

You're probably right, if ALL your trips are short, you would be better off with a small conventionally powered car. However, you might have trouble even with that, you're exhaust system would rust out because it would not get hot enough to evaporate the water in it. Of course, if the weather's nice, you could just walk or bike that 3 km, your health would benefit greatly. An engine block heater would help you somewhat to decrease your car's warmup time, but for only 3 km, I'm not sure. My commutes are around 24 miles in 40 minutes, perfect for my Prius to give me over 50 mpg, this tank is 57 since the ethanol went away :)

All cars do poorly on short trips. With the Prius, you have the instrumentation to see how bad you are doing. Walk, bike, or drive something electric if you can.

You'll see dramatically better MPG with an engine block heater for short trips.

I see very few situations in which it's a good idea to "trick the car". I generally assume that the engineers who designed the thing made it act the way it does for a reason.

You sound like the PERFECT candidate for an all electric car!

Get an enclosed electric mobility scooter or a warm coat and some waterproof shoes.
