    Hey, I'm the new driver of an 08 Prius. I say driver because I got the car as a company car. I did a minor bit of reading here and discovered I am not the only one with a problem with the amount the seat moves back.

    I have seen a couple threads asking about where this can be done. Is there any particular kind of shop that I should look for, or if anyone knows of a specific shop in the Baltimore area that can do this work. My next step would be to convince the company to spend a few hundred bucks so that I fit in the car as I will be driving upwards of 50,000 miles this year.

    So far the computer says that I am getting 47 mpg, so thats doing pretty good.

    Are there any quirks that I should be on the look out for?

    Thanks

    Welcome to PriusChat, racer12306. Are you very tall? You're doing the right thing reading here, several discussions on rail extenders. I'm fine without them so I haven't paid much attention.

    There are no particular quirks to watch out for, the Prius is a gasoline car with an automatic transmission, sort of. You got advice about reading the guess gauge in another thread. The friction brakes get used so little they may rust a bit and give you crunchy stops every now and then until the rust is rubbed off. There is no clutch to slip, so if the engine revs high going up a mountain, don't worry, keep your foot on the pedal. You probably won't need B mode unless you're coming down a mountain. Don't block the vent on the passenger side of the back seat, that provides cabin air to cool the big battery. The car protects itself very well, so bumping the shift switch into R at speed will only earn you an annoyed beep.

    Keep reading and have fun driving your low-pollution company car.

    Thanks for the tips.

    I wouldn't say I'm super tall, but I am right around 6'1" or 6'2". I drove the car for about 2 hours friday and my ankle was killing me from the angle.

    Wow, I'm 6'2" and never have the driver's seat in the full back position, not even close. I realize, however, that despite our similarities we are all different as well..... Have you tried some experimentation with the angle of the seat to see if a combination of that and the forward/backward adjustment might help?

    I think my height is in my legs. I don't have any adjustability as far as I can see of the seat other than reclining and forward and back.

    . . . Give thy thoughts no tongue,
    Nor any unproportion'd thought his act.
    Be thou familiar, but by no means vulgar.
    Those friends thou hast, and their adoption tried,
    Grapple them to thy soul with hoops of steel;
    But do not dull thy palm with entertainment
    Of each new-hatch'd, unfledg’d comrade. Beware
    Of entrance to a quarrel but, being in,
    Bear't that th' opposed may beware of thee.
    Give every man thy ear, but few thy voice;
    Take each man's censure, but reserve thy judgement.
    Costly thy habit as thy purse can buy,
    But not express'd in fancy; rich, not gaudy;
    For the apparel oft proclaims the man;
    And they in France of the best rank and station
    Are of a most select and generous chief in that.
    Neither a borrower, nor a lender be;
    For loan oft loses both itself and friend,
    And borrowing dulls the edge of husbandry.
    This above all: to thine own self be true,
    And it must follow, as the night the day,
    Thou canst not then be false to any man.
    Farewell; my blessing season this in thee!

    As completed by William Shakespeare
