First off, I am all of these, but I thought I would share this link of NPR's Wait Wait Don't Tell Me harassing Obama supporting, Mac using, Prius drivers.

    Listen to the segment

Of course they failed to mention the only thing worse then an Obama supporting, Mac using, Prius driver is an Obama supporting, Mac using, NPR listening, Prius driver.

I don't have the opportunities to listen to the radio on Saturday mornings, but I have a 1-hour commute. Unfortunately, Priapus doesn't have a good iPod integration so I have to wear one headphone. But I got a set that, from a distance, looks like a cell phone ear bud. That way people can just assume I'm another cell phone driver - only this one must be having a very funny conversation. :pound:

"Wait Wait" is the first podcast I listen to on Mondays on my way to work. I have a 70 mile round-trip, so I can usually hear 90% of the show before I get there in the morning, then I listen to the rest (and other downloads) on the way home.

(I have an iPod, some Macs - though I use a Linux box most of the time - drive a Prius as well as a big V8 car and a moto, and have no idea who will get my vote in November. I'm not sure what demographic I fall into ;) )

I feel very smug. Of course, I drive a Xebra. I only drive the Prius to get to church in Coeur d'Alene, and for summer trips to Canada.

I actually agree with everything he says, and don't find it the least offensive. It's true: For a little over $20K ($30K if you want all the options) the Prius allows you to feel like you're helping the environment without sacrificing anything, when actually you're merely doing less damage.

Comment number 8 from the above link:
I bought my Prius because it does less damage to the environment, but also for the nerd factor. At a time when no EV was available, the ability to drive electric, even if only for a few blocks at a time, was super-nerdy.

When driving the Prius I listen to my iPod through the ear buds. But my Xebra has an aux jack that I can plug the iPod into.

So very, very true. Thank you. I feel much better about myself now. Not smug, mind you, let's call it content.

Makes me think of Spiro Agnew's "effete snobs"

Ever hear of Spiro Agnew? and how many dictionaries did search to find "effete" back before Al Gore invented the "internets" !? ;)
