I've got my dash torn apart (pulled out the vent and removed the white cable block) but can't find the right cable to plug into. To the right of the radio, I can find and remove a relatively small wiring connector but it's not the right connector to mate with the supplied connectors from the Dice. This cable that I can remove is right behind the "tune" button on the radio.

Am I supposed to be removing a cable and plugging that into the Dice cable and then plugging the Dice cable into the back of the radio, or am I simply plugging the dice cable into an empty slot in the back of the radio?

I don't have a sirious, nor do I have navigation, just the basic radio/CD changer.

    Help!

    Thanks,
    Jon

The squarish cable supplied with the DICE plugs INTO the back of the stereo head unit. There should be a corresponding open slot for it right next to a thinner plug already in the head unit.
The supplied "Y" connector is only used if you have XM/Sirius.

Evan - thanks for the reply, did you just feel around and hope you could find the place to plug it in and where approximately is the place to plug it in if you were looking at the front of the radio head unit?

    Many thanks,
    Jon

Evan - the open slot to the left of the one cable I can easily reach (the one on the back right side of the radio head unit) seems to be way to small to mate with the larger cable connected to the Dice unit. The Dice cable connector is about 1" x 3/8".

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Jon

Yea, it's completely blind, and by feel...and it's hard to reach. I always come away with a little of my flesh left to the Prius mod Gods.

As you look at the stereo it's to the far right. You'll feel a longer thinner plug right on the right rear (as you face the stereo). Just medial (or toward the driver side) to that you'll feel a hole...that's where you plug in.

I was searching for a picture and found only one and I can't figure out how to save it with markings. Anyway, it's attached. If you look at the back of the stereo unit as it's pulled from the dash (in the pic) you'll see a plug with wires going into it on the right...immediately next to that is a white spot...that's the slot you're aiming for.

That long thin connector connects to the DICE unit (I think it's black). The OTHER end of that cable should go to the head unit. It's square and maybe 1/2"x3/8" or so.

Evan - thanks! Just to be clear, I am not using the "Y" cable (even though it has a nice smaller connector that looks/feels like it would fit into the available slot.

I do have the black connector saved for the Dice and the opposite end of that is the large white connector 1" x 3/8" and that connector has an additional connector connected to it via two wires out the back of the connector.

    Does that make sense?

    Thanks,
    Jon

Ah....looks like you HAVE to use the Y cable. Connect your 1" x 3/8" to the corresponding connector on the Y. The male branch of the Y goes to the back of the head unit. The female part would have connected to the XM if you had one but will be unused.

Sorry, I think I threw you off as I hadn't remembered that the Y had to be attached even if you were not connecting the XM.

Evan attached is a pic of the cable I am trying to use. The black end fits into the Dice and the big white end is the one I'm trying (can't even seem to come close) to fit into the stereo head unit in the slot next to the existing factory cable. Notice also the two wires blue and purple that are also attached to another connector (I'm assuming I leave that connector alone and don't attach it to anything)?

    Thanks,
    Jon
