I just installed my Silver in my '08 and am operating it in MP3 mode and I'm quite happy with my unit. I don't know though if it would be better in SAT mode and am curious to know if anyone knows what the differences are?

    Thanks,
    Jon

The difference between SAT and CD mode with the Silverline is that with SAT you can use the radio knob to change playlists, songs, etc.

    Thanks.

By the way. Did you get instructions with your Silver? Can you make PDFs of them and put them up here?

Wish I did. Since I already had one, installation wasn't the problem. I knew about the settings by searching on this site. The pdfs on DICE's site were the same, which basically said the right switches weren't working at the time.

I made PDFs and attached them with one of my messages (see previous page). It seems some can read them and some can't.
    Don't know why.

Hmmm - I can't get any text at all with uu uu. I can hear the music but I can't see what is playing and I can't control the iPod either. Any clues as to what I might be doing wrong?

With dd uu SAT mode does work but I do not like the display and I don't like how everything is sorted alphabetically. That's why I'm trying uu uu.

Does the CD changer screen have a "Title" button? I have the base package, so maybe there is a difference between the MFD's. You may only be able to get text with SAT mode in yours.

The alphabetical thing annoys me too. I ended up naming my playlists in order by putting a number (00, 01, 02, ...) in front of them like "01 - My Top Rated". I live with the artists and albums. My Ipod is almost full, so scrolling through the hundred or so artists is very tedious when I want to listen to someone in the middle of the list.

I am now on my second DICE iPod controller and my first DICE Silverline for the Prius. With the switches set at ud uu, SAT mode is so far working for my iPod Nano. Cautious optimism for the moment (fingers crossed).

No text button. I'm guessing this is because it isn't seeing any text from my iPod.

If my only choice is to have my old dice that works mostly as it should (once in awhile the text will disappear and I'll have to hit the audio button twice to get it back) and the Silver where I can more easily move to different playlists/artists/etc., but only play songs alphabetically, then I'll stick with the old unit.

    I'm calling DICE today.

One thing that I have been kicking around trying to decide whether to do or not is to set up the DICE Silverline iPod controller to just relay songs from the iPod (specifically, the iPhone). There is an option where the DICE Silverline iPod controller does not slave the iPod (iPod Configuration Switch (#2) is set for on-on (or down-down)). This mode should (I don't have personal knowledge, since I haven't tested it) enable the iPod controls to be used to select artist/title/playlist to play. Since the iPhone screen is actually large enough to be usable to select what to play, I have been considering swapping to the iPhone for iPod functionality in addition to the phone/bluetooth function.

Not a bad idea (calling DICE). Mine doesn't have the problem of playing songs alphabetically. It stays true to the playlist or song order for the most part. Sometimes it screws up the order of a podcast, but if I select the playlist on the ipod prior to attaching it to DICE, it always plays in the correct order. It's another annoyance...
