I don't know if it is gas prices or what, but I have had more people come up to me and inquire about Dream in the last couple of weeks than ever before.

It seems to be happening everywhere. Not only gas stations, but at the park, at the grocery store and I even had one guy at a red light.

Is this happening to all of you or is it just my good looks? (probably not the later LOL)

    Hi best...,

I think I noticed more people looking at my car in traffic today. But I just could be imagining it.

Everywhere I go tons of people come over asking about my car. The Xebra, that is. I hardly ever drive the Prius except to church in Coeur d'Alene, 'because it's too far for The Snail. But Unitarians know all about the Prius already. So even when I drive the Prius, people ask me about the Xebra.

Yeah, I've had a few people mention that they just got gas for $3.45/gallon and then they ask how my mileage is doing. Now that the temp's getting warmer, I just smile and say, "so far, this tank is at 61.3"

Back in late 05, I had my first encounter in Trader Joe's parking lot. I kind of liked the Prius idea, but love my 25 mpg Subaru. A lady was loading groceries into her Prius hatchback, and I saw how much room there was inside (big enough for my bike, which requires a rack on the Sube). I asked her how she liked the Prius, and she said she traded her Acura in for it, and loves the Prius. I made a call to a friend of my wife's who also raved about hers. Less than a week later, I was signing the check. 2 years and 55,000 miles later I'm no longer the look-er, but the look-ee. Most of my friends and relatives think I made a mistake, but they don't commute 450 miles a week. My favotite encounter was at Costco gas, talking to a civic hybrid guy. He asked me the mpgs, and I told him always 50+. I asked him what the civic got......uh, 38. Yeah, I'm a happy guy.

    And your mistake would be....?
    1. Have they ever driven a Prius?
    2. Are they 'luxury car' snobs like my step-sister's fiance? He's one of those "If it isn't expensive it doesn't show how important I am" kind of guys.
    3. Do they now nothing about the car and believe all the falsehoods spread by other ignorant people?
After I came back from Lake Placid last summer my next door neighbor jokingly asked if I had to get out and push it up the hills. It is obvious that he had some generic belief that the car has no power and has never been in one. He's also never asked about it even though there are 2 at our house and at least 3 others in our 85 household neighborhood, including his neighbor on the other side. One would have to presume that when there are a lot of them around, there might be some value. He probably doesn't want to know. It might invalidate the $37K he spent on the 15/22 MPG Volvo XC70 (at least it wasn't an XC90) so his wife could drive the 3 miles to work every day.

Funny, the Volvo site has an Environment link for the car. Doesn't talk about how the car affects the environment but how it keeps the environment (pollution) out of the car

I've had my Pri about a year now, and have only gotten a few inquiries. I manage to get to the fuel pumps, on average, of once a month. There are more and more Pris seen here, and for whatever reason people are pretty oblivious to them. BTW most of them are stone stock; ignorance is bliss?
