I wrote to her last night. I did not mention "alternative propulsion" but I did tell her that I drive a Xebra, with a brief description of it, and mentioned that you had asked EV drivers to contact her.

If she replies, I will participate. If she does not, that's fine. I have no need of the occasional monetary incentives.

Yea, the monetary thing is minimal incentive really...fun, I've gotten a couple things I didn't need but had pined for and couldn't justify spending 'real' money on (golf clubs I won't use and a fancy remote for my home theater).

I think the thing I like is seeing the hints and getting insight into the direction(s) that GM is taking with the Volt and other vehicles and being able to, hopefully, influence those decisions and maybe even the thinking of others who don't have a good background in alternative propulsion.

I recieved an e-mail from Isabelle asking for the e-mail addresses of anyone I know who'd previously applied to be part of the autoinsight community and was denied.

If any of you are interested you can PM me your e-mail address or e-mail it to me at evanfusco AT AOL dot COM

Presuming that you get $25 per month for 30 minutes per week, that means for two hours of my time, I make $25 or $12.50 per hour but have to spend it on Amazon.com. Not exactly enticing eh? JD Power once sent me $20 and a survey to fill out that took at least 2 hours, probably more like three. yeah sure, I'll work for you for $10 per hour for work that I normally get paid ten times more than that. And perhaps you can get Toyota to sell you a $30,000 for $3,000. Thanks for thinking of us, though, Evan. I'll entertain any offer. Usually, though, offers like that end up entertaining me.

This is not something you should do in expectation of a windfall or to move up into another tax bracket for certain.

While it's been nice to have some pure 'fun money' to spend on stuff I don't need and wouldn't have bought without the 'profits' from these survey sites it isn't why I participate.

I honestly have gotten some interesting insight into the Volt and the minds of GM for what they're trying to do with their cars. Also I want to be one of the people influencing the direction of these cars...it's one of the few ways the 'common man' can get his voice heard on a matter like this. I'm hopeful that one day I'll see some of my ideas or at least some of the ideas that I supported come to fruition in a functional Volt...and maybe have one of my own to say "I helped build this".

Yes, it sounds interesting and I did participate in one of Ford's consumer studies several years ago. We drove their new cars around and told them what we thought, what we liked, what we didn't, what was missing, yada yada yada. It was fun and they gave us $40 cash each time we went to it. I do things that don't make me rich and could make more money doing something else but I like to do it. It's mostly whether or not I feel as if something is worthy of my time.

As reported earlier, I emailed her. I gave her your name and email in my email to her.

I never received a reply. That's okay. I'd have participated if they wanted me, but I'm perfectly happy not to waste my time if they don't want me.

But the fact that she ASKED you to have people email her, and then lacked the common courtesy of replying to those emails, greatly lowers her in my estimation.

I can understand that Daniel. It took her about a week to respond to a PM regarding this issue of people being declined.

The new AIOC has just started up. If you read the first post of the thread it'll tell you a lot about what this site is about. I've really started enjoying participating in the site not only for the surveys and discussions but also just to participate in open discussions.

They've just reopened new registrations to the site and I'd like to invite you all to consider joining. At a minimum it requires about 10-15 min per week (surveys are on Fridays and occasional suprise discussions and surveys on other days). If you want there's a pretty active discussions forum covering all kinds of things.

    Here's the link:

you can use my e-mail as the referer: evanfusco AT aol DOT com

To tantalize you a bit.... Today's survey was about a 40 mile PHEV...it looks like a hatchback Volt. They give some performance specs and interior dimensions. This thing looks like a cross b/w the original Volt concept and the Prius actually. I'm not allowed to say much more, but it's just a sample of the kind of things they ask you about and give you some insight into.

Hmmm. You have to give them your name, mailing address, and email, and then they'll contact you to decide whether or not they'll allow you to join.

I guess not. I doubt they'd want someone loony enough to drive a three-legged electric car.

Isn't this the same outfit you gave a link to once before? People who responded were never contacted. So you gave an email to write to. I did, and never heard from them.

Oh. I just looked at the earlier posts in the thread. Yep. Same outfit. They didn't want to respond to me then. I'm certainly not going to keep after them.

It is, Daniel. I don't know why they didn't contact you then, but all in all I've found them to be an excellent organization. They've used my snail mail addy only for mailing me free goodies. I gave a false phone number.

They've started a whole new site in a different structure and are aiming for a total of 10k people. And a lot of the focus is on alternative energy and Volt type products.

I can understand if you don't want to mess with them again after your prior frustrations, but I'd be thrilled to have you contributing to the site...sign up with the Zap as your primary vehicle...I bet they sign you up.

 i have to say, sometimes this place really brightens my day... but in a really sarcastic kind of way... i hope that anyone who comments on the level of monetary gain for this is kidding.

I'm glad you did Daniel...sincerely...I hope you don't get kicked out for some dumb reason as I look forward to your contributions there. I know how anti-GM you are and I think they need to hear that.

Cool, welcome to the community. Are you using the same screen name as here?

    Daniel, any word yet?

Godiva, they're building their numbers (they want a total of 10k members) if you wanna try again.

I was just about to answer that I had heard nothing yet, when I got the survey. But when I got to "list your vehicle" of course Zap is not listed, and when I checked "My vehicle is not listed" I got the same page again.

I could not get past that point. There was no place to enter the name of an unlisted maker. Oh, yes: The box actually said "My vehicle is not listed or I have no vehicle." So they probably think I have no car. You thought they'd be interested to hear from the owner of an EV. But apparently not, because there was no place on the survey to say that I own an EV.

I will be extremely surprised if they accept me. I'll let you know if I hear anything from them. Fortunately, I don't particularly care.

Of course you can list the Prius. Then once accepted there's a way to change your vehicle just by sending an e-mail.
