So i traded in my BMW M5 2000 for the Prius 08 Touring. Bought it on 1/13/08

I have to say i love it! It has way more power than i thought it would.. After reading many posts on these forums i have changed my driving in order to maximize my MPG in the prius.. it has become an exciting game :D

Im going to tint the windows, put some new tires rims on it (going to try get lighter wheels rims that look betta), I was thinking bout body kit and perhaps the sharkfin ant. I was also thinking of gettin all weather mats, rear bumper guard.. Also eventually want the TRD suspension, and all the stiffining for better handling. I also want parking sensors on front an rear.. I love em on our other car.. Can tell when your a foot away with solid sound.. peeps faster and faster till solid at that point ur a foot away the rear and front have different pitch so u can tell which is which.. Anyhow if the prius had this i would be happy makes parr parking a breeze.. Also i saw a add on mod for the side mirror tilt down when reversing.. I had this feature in m5 and it was very handy for gettin near curb without hitting em.

Congratulations on the new Prius. :)
Know the feeling well about getting acquainted with all the interesting features of this machine, it's engineering, driving techniques and after market add-ons. Although we've had a Prius since 2004 and now recently moved up to the 2008 we are still enjoying owning one and I predict you will also.
    Have fun!

Congratulations. I got a touring a couple of months ago and I have added many of the mods you are considering and am enjoying the car alot.

You probably already know, but the touring model already has upgraded suspension and different rims/tires. I guess it is too late now, but if you were planning to upgrade these with aftermarket, you could have gotten the non-touring as the only other thing different with the toruing that I am aware of is the spoiler is a bit bigger.

Anyway, enjoy your new ride! :)

Hiya guys thanks for the grats :D Yea i wasnt aware of all the cool mods I could do before i purchased it.. if i would have known i could of saved a few grand and got the basic with a package.

At first all i knew was i wanted some nice tires/rims and a tint job.. I guess i could sell the tires rims on it now since they only have 100miles on em.

Updated my location, my car, and my heading.. Im beyond member im a Prius Head!! :D

    Re: Touring vs. standard w/upgrades???

This thread may be just in time to save me!!!
I am switching from an older BMW that I love driving to a Prius - I hope! I thought I needed to buck up and buy the Touring pkg 6 in order to get what I want, but now I'm wondering how aftermarket compares. Any advise?

    I'd really like:
leather seats (I hear that the upgrade on lesser pkgs with dealers installing produces inferior results or a different look - not sure I understand that)

iPod doc (I'm liking the iPod staying put instead of just laying down with a cable attached)

    16" wheels

Improved suspension/handling, and better rear appearance

So, is there a cheaper way that makes sense? Presently, the last dealer offer was 26,300 for touring pkg 6 Maybe I could just light some incense, howl at the moon, and get lucky with negotiating an even cheaper price? Yeah, right. Anyone??? THANKS for any thoughts.

Congrats WooT. Have fun mod'ing the Prius. I am very interested as to what kind of lighter aftermarket wheels you can find for the car. For me, I won't upgrade my suspension yet, since it is too new to take out. Perhaps after a couple of years, I may start thinking about it.

    Enjoy your new green car.

    Way to go, Woot !
We traded in our Explorer for the Prius. Then, loved it so much, we traded in our Range Rover for the SUV Lexus hybrid. We've never once looked back. Enjoy!

Hi and congrats on a great purchase! Question: what's your feeling about choosing black? Aside from any temp issues... I'm asking in terms of showing any parking lot dings from other car doors, dust/rain... I've always wanted a black car, but always been discouraged because in Oregon we do get the rain.

I'd love to hear black really isn't a big deal... mostly though, I'd love to know what people really think. :)

    Thanks, -M

I have a Black car [not a Prius] but its really not that bad. Dust and dirt do show up more readily on it, but weekly washing and good coat of wax once a quarter has kept her in tip top condition.
