My husband and I picked up our 2008 Touring Prius with XM Sat. After my husband's heart attack that we need to buy a receiver to actually receive XM, what do people recommend that we buy?

    P.S. WE LOVE THIS CAR!!!

Several options: Dealer-installed, Factory Interactive, Vais Technologies, Coastal ... probably more. I suggest you search around and read up on reports from users of each to get a sense of what they like and don't like.

Pay attention to the customer service issues reported by Coastal customers. The radio itself has apparently been fine, but customer care has been pretty lousy.

I have the Vais unit, and I've been pleased. See this thread for more.

Visit your local Best Buy or Circuit City store. These stores have lots of XM satellite radios on display and they may be able to give you expert advice and what would work specifically for the Prius.

Good Luck and have fun shopping.

I had Sirius installed at the dealership. Clean and easy. I am sure XM would be the same. If you are needing a portable unit then I would check out Best Buy since they would have a selection to compare for yourself in person.
