I have a ' 08 classic silver pkg #2 with the grey interior. I didn't want to pay the premium package for adding leather so I went with cloth. It appears the Toyota's factory leather is a grey. To be honest, I don't really like the color. With the interior plastic adorned in grey and black tones, I think I may have some color flexibility with leather seat options without making it look like a pimp-my-ride episode.

I like the look of black like I had in my Saab, but that may just look funny with the grey carpets. How about a charcola grey? I didn't think a 2-tone would look good, but after playing with Katskin's online seat customizing tool, I think a black seat with light grey insert might look sharp without being "loud".

    What are your thoughts?

The charcoal gray on Katzkin's site looks nice, and to me it looks the same as the Toyota factory gray color. I don't care for the two-tone look, but that's just me.

well you can get different color stitching, it suede inserts, perforated, piping, etc... there are so many options when going the aftermarket route. you can also get all leather instead of a combo of leather and vinyl from Toyota.

Try roadwire.com. They have some great colors there. I'm going to get my car done in a charcoal grey with perforated inserts.

u can do black leather outer seats

inner seats could be done in alcantara suede in back or charcoal, along with the door inserts and center console armrest to match

    subtle and smooth

I think I like the idea of a perforated insert. That's one thing I wish I had in my last car.

I think the suede insert would look nice but I'm not sure how it would hold up to my 4 yr old.

So how does the quality and prices compare between Roadwire & Katskin's. I assume Roadwire has local installers too.

correct me if i am wrgong. but, i think roadwire uses classic soft trim leather and they are just the installers.

i prefer classic soft trim leather since i think they are better quality kits. katzin is all marketing. i have had classic soft trim leather in my car before and campared to a car with katzkin and many felt the quality was better with classic soft trim.

If I'm not mistaken, Roadwire is the manufacturer and provider of the leather and Classic Soft Trim is an installer. Welcome to Roadwire Automotive Innovation Classic Soft Trim did the install on an older Camry of mine many years ago and the leather used wore better than the OEM leather on my wife's Camry. When I recently called Roadwire about a leather install on my new Prius, they explained to me that they are the supplier of the leather and they referred me to Classic Soft Trim to get prices, install info, etc.

If you want it to look even remotely like factory installed you don't have much of a choice. Grey is the way to go. If you don't care that it doesn't look factory installed then your imagination is the only limit. I have a classic silver that I had leather installed in and it is grey and looks like it came that way. I just added a wheelskin leather steering wheel cover in black to finish the job. Once again I was looking for the factory look. If you look in the Mod section currently on page 4 under New Leather Interior by blamy, I have pictures of the install that may help you decide. Good luck.

blamy, when you had the leather installed by Roadwire, did they mention if they could install adjustable lumbar supports or additional/different padding? I'm thinking of having them do mine here in California. Also, were there any negatives that you experienced when dealing with them? Thanks!

Hey Blamy, Thanks for the link to the pics. It looks fantastic and the console and doors are a real plus...nice work. What is the name of that grey? Is it lighter than the OEM?

Thanks for everything guys. I found a local installer that does both Classic Soft Trim and Katskins. I'll upload some pics of the final install. I'm doing my part for the US with the stimuls money :D

It's probably easier for all if I just load them up here for you to see.

To tell the truth I didn't ask about lumbar supports or extra padding. I don't see why they couldn't do it if they had the required parts since they pretty much take the seats apart to install the new leather parts. There were no negatives at all and the pictures were taken right after the install so any of those wrinkles you see are now gone. Frankly I think it is nicer and thicker than my wifes 08 #6 with leather.

Thanks; I was looking for factory job look and I am very happy with the outcome. The installers in Jacksonville Fl. are very good. They put a sunroof in my El Dorado and you couldn't tell from Factory.

The good thing about going aftermarket is that you can have the armrest on the door and the center wrapped in leather instead of the cheap syntheic material Toyota uses.

Did they install any leather on the actual doors? Some companies offer that as an option.

I'm also looking to do some after-factory leather on my 2004 Prius, and I would personally prefer a look that was decidedly not factory. My Prius originally came with the lighter interior (not sure what the heck they call the color, but it's not gray) and a black exterior.

So what I was considering was perhaps going with a two-tone look, with the two tones being the two different colors of the interior, the black and the lighter color. What I'm wondering is first off, if black is actually the color I want for that darker color, since I'm not sure if the dark interior paneling is actually black or perhaps some other color. I'm also curious as to if this is a look that is actually going to be appealing. Naturally, if you don't like two-tone, then you don't like two-tone, but is such a matching of interior colors and seat colors a good idea?

Sorry if I've been a bit wordy, but I'm having trouble expressing myself today. :D
