So I have one key fob for my 2004 Prius. I need another for my husband. Dealer said they would sell to me for $200+ and another $45 to program and cut the little key in the FOB. It is not a smart key.

Is eBay a good place to go? I am wary though because I've been scammed for minor things in the past. Any suggestion to find a reputable seller would be helpful. Thanks!

i do not know how much toyotas normally run but my lexus was pretty expensive. i only had a valet key, so i needed to make the master key and get the fob. it was $75 on ebay for the lexus oem denso fob. then $25 to cut it. since you already have a master key, you shouldnt have to reflash the ecu (which costs anywhere from 100-300 on my car). you can just program it yourself. its a fairly simple and yet annoying process where you stick the key in, turn it, lock, unlock doors a few times and step on the brakes and gas. then stick the other one in. the programming instructions for my car were Toyota and Lexus Key Specialists yours will be dif.
it might be worth the 240 just to have it done right.

Just check the sellers feedback thats a good clue to avoid being scammed.
Here is a thread that talks about a eBay fob and its DIY programming.
