Whee! The spin on this is making me dizzy.

You are a master of spin.

California doesn't count. But that is where I have to buy gas.

Here it is ... Spring ... and your reuters source became a bust ... big time ... so you see? It's YOU that are kiling us, with your crazy "cheep gas" ... quoting drole that's likely sponsered by GM's hummer and suburban sales :D

    U.S. Retail Gasoline Prices

THIS is where fuel is heading, in most EVERY area.
I can't believe that a fella like your self, is really that silly, especially if you have been checking world wide production of oil. It "Peaked" my friend, many years ago, and will continue to spiral downward ... even while demand from India & Asia spirals upward. There aren't enough new discovery reserves to replace the old wells that continue to come off line, due to their lack of output. Time to wake up and smell the coffee.

Even your fearless leader Lutz admitted he was an idiot (besides being a liar), as far back as a decade ago, because he couldn't see where oil/gas was going. You don't want to end up like him do you? With egg all over your face?

Sorry. Better try to sell suburbans & hummers somewhere else.

Odd way of saying you were totally wrong. Does this also stand in for the appology for implying that those of us who thought otherwise were basically idiots? (Yeah, I know you didn't say that... 'tis why I used "implying.")

And of course the price of gas will drop. It drops all the time. And has dropped countless times on the climb to $4+. You want to talk in averages... if so, then we also need to talk in trends. If you think that the price of gas will trend down in the future, then you've really got to pull your head out. It simply can't permanently get cheaper. It is a fininte resource, and we've already used up the easy stuff. You DO know this, right?

Just making friends wherever you go, eh? California... this is your largest car market, of course. Is it normal to just ignore us? Oh, I forgot - you're with the company that took my electric car away and crushed it. Never mind.

Now be fair. It isn't April 15 yet. I'm sure it'll be $2.65 by April 15. I can feel it.

He hasn't actually lost yet......I mean prices could drop by $.64 in less than two weeks, couldn't they?.......Just because it hasn't ever happened before doesn't completely remove it from the realm of possibility.

But on the 15th of April, barring some sort of SUV dealers miracle, I think we should see a Toyota next to Malorn's name.

It will be $3.65 by April 15th and Malorn will claim a typo.

Otherwise the Republicans dont want to win the election and just want to squeeze every last penny out of their reign before they drop a worldwide depression in the laps of the Dems.

It will happen! It really will!

On Planet Malorn, the happy place where GM makes quality vehicles, where the trade deficit with Japan is what everybody says is "the most important issue", and, oh, I don't know, cows can fly or something.

He's been here. Did you know:

All of the extra price markup in California is apparently state tax. I never knew that before.

Oops! I misread my desk clock. That's what happens when you're retired: You lose track of the month.

I'm thinking lettuce would make a tolerable hat. As long as you don't actually have to wear it.

Talking about a slowing economy isn't talking about a global market.
We are paying 9.74% on morgages here as interest rates climb to slow our economy and in China and India I don't think the economy is slowing much.

How are things going on the Tundra forums Malorn? Things a bit slow at the dealership?

Now I get it - very clever. I think you're correct that the price of gas (gas for heating) will probably drop in the spring - summer period. However, the price of gasoline will rise by most estimates as demand pick ups. People drive more in the spring and summer.

9.74%? Holy cow. What kind of a ripoff place would charge so much for mortgage interest?

Read the line you quoted from his post: In Australia interest rates are high because the government wants to slow down the economy. It's not a question of one "place" charging excessive interest; it's a matter of the government setting rates high as a matter of economic policy in reaction to what it considers an overheated economy.

I couldn't agree with you more on this. I think that the Feds through its intelligence agencies and through its industy contacts have a pretty good view of what's going to occur in the next 5-10-15 yrs.

It was Bush and his group that pushed for and got stricter CAFE standards essentially to ensure that at sometime in the near future we don't have riots where we have to fight each other over fillups. There are also the issues of keeping more of our money here in this country and not making those that hate us richer still. But I think the key domestic issue is making sure that all of us have equal access to fuel in order to maintain our lifestyles and to keep peace in the streets.

There are a number of long term and shortterm pressures that IMO will cause the price of fuel never to go as low as $2 / gal in our lifetimes. As a matter of fact I think that we would all be foolish not to plan on an annual increase of some type in the price of retail fuel. Myself I'd plan on the following... $0.50/gal increase on the average annual price with spikes up to $1.00 higher than the average during each CY. What does this mean ( excluding CA and other high priced states )?
    2006 $2.50 / gal
    2007 $2.85 / gal peaked at $3.25-$3.90
    2008 $3.35 / gal
    2009 $3.85
    2010 $4.50
    2011 $5.00
    2012 $5.50
    2013 $6.00
    2014
    2015 $7.00
    2016
    2017 $8.00
    2018
    2019
    2020 $9.00 - $10.00

Plan on it or don't plan on it, it doesn't matter. The market will not notice either way. I'm planning on it.

So who are the culprits? They stare back at us every morning in the mirror. As long as we buy then the oil companies have every right to charge what the market will bear, especially with two oil men at the head of our government. Without buyers the oil companies and their friends the producers can't charge more.

But there is hope. And the source of that hope? It too stares back at us every morning in the mirror. We here have been at the vanguard of change....for a while alone. Now the American buying public has noticed and it is reacting...forcefully. The Federal government has reacted as well. Even some of the knuckle-draggers are reacting.
