    2. How does one install the sharkfin? Is their a pictorial on some web site? and I also think I read about a booster installed with it optionally? (is it even needed?)

    thanks!

It's really not a big deal at all. That said, I lost, no idea where, one of those ceiling retaining thingys.

the picture of the base of the antenna looks like the cable wire is screwed onto the base? I take it the sharkfin attaches the same way.

and in addition to the bolt to thread on it looks like the fin has a sticky gasket to add to the fin.

The antenna inside the shark fin connects to the bolt. Then the sharkfin itself sticks to the top of the car with a sticky gasket.

Thanks Dumas. Seems like something I could do. is reception much different (less) than std whip? and is their a booster if it is?

That whip antenna really gets me. I just dont like it_ at_ all.

    I ordered mine here.

    Toyota Parts and Accessories Store

This site only shows the protector for the 04 and 05 Prius but should work with all 04 to 08's (I hope) mine is 08.

I ordered Saturday April 12. Fedex Tracking said it should be in my hands on 4-17.

    $52.50 + $15.83 shipping = $68.33 total

Hey Sheepdog it fits perfect. I installed the deflector last night. It took about an hour. I was not in any rush and had poor lighting in my garage. The deflector was on sale for $52.50. (+shipping to your area) There is no indication of how long the sale will last. I hope to clean my Prius tomorrow and post plenty of pics. I will probably start a new thread tittled hood deflector on Silver Prius ( or something similar) in the proper Forum area. Oh by the way...it looks good.

As far as the sharkfin, it will receive less signal. Whether that will be a problem for -you- is up to you to determine. If you have poor reception or marginal reception with the stock antenna, then yes, you will need -another- booster (the stock antenna has a booster already). If you have a good quiet signal now, you may be ok with the sharkfin.
