another newbie in OH

    Hello out there in the interwebs!

    i just bought a new 2008 Prius classic silver, package #6 2 days ago with 400 miles on it. I plan to get the EV mod and heated front seats. AND i turned off the reverse beep all by myself (YAY!!)

    I gave up my decked out 2000 Accord Coupe EX V-6 and I'm learning how to change my driving habits. When in consumption screen, i think of it as a video game and I cannot get more than 43mpg right now. hopefully this will change as i get done with break in? My husband consistently beats me at my *game* >:|

    Give him a target to shoot for...While no where near the all time "High Score" this'll give you an idea what's possible....

    Welcome to the site. IMO your attitude needs adjusting more than the car needs breaking in. Read the sticky about getting better FE and check your tp. Even money bet your tires are soft.

    Thanks for the welcome! JimN - I'm sure my TP is off considering i've had it for a whole 3 days now and *i* have been reading up on getting better on FE. As I said I have been changing my driving habits accordingly. The *game* between my husband and I is a joke.

    Okay, what's TP? Can't figure out that one....oh, tire pressure. Duh!

    That will be part of it, but obviously if your DH (which I've always assumed is Dear Husband, but maybe that's wishful thinking based on some of the posts) is getting better FE, than I'm guessing he has a longer commute. Or he's better able to anticipate slow-downs in the road/traffic.

    I've spent a lot of time on slow roads, so I can do better than my wife (SWMBO :kiss:) at those speeds, but because of her commute she always gets better mileage on the roads with traffic above 55 mph.
