Traded the 04 Civic Hybrid (76K miles) for an 06 Prius (20k miles) today, at a Volvo dealer to boot. Still getting used to things, no remorse. Still not sure if I trust the reverse camera, or how I interpret it. Everything else is good. Very, very nice car.

:welcome: Welcome to PriusChat, misslexi! Put an empty cardboard box behind your car and back up to it to get a feel for what you're seeing and how close you get. They're great cars.

The backup camera is useful mainly to check behind you before you start backing up. I spent a month trying to back out of my driveway using the backup camera and gave up. Now I turn around, right hand on back of passenger seat like they teach in driver ed, sometimes using mirrors to get a bead down the edge of the driveway. Use the camera only in the beginning to be certain now children, animals, or men with clubs are directly behind me where I cannot otherwise see.

I completely use my mirrors to back up and use the camera to judge distance when backing up to something. I figure if I can see the entire Prius bumper as long as there's space in between it and another object then I haven't hit anything. :D
