You can get aftermarket leather that is about 50 % thicker than the factory leather and higher quality. Have you checked out Broadway Toyota near the Rose Quarter?

Hi! No, we'll give them a call in the morning! Have you seen their leather dealer install?
    THANKS!

Costco must have changed their pricing policy. A year ago their price for a Prii was only $400.00 off MSRP. You can do much better than that with a straight deal. Previous to that, they did very well on a new Honda. So their deals vary greatly with the make.
I would agree wth the others on extras, you can usually get a better deal by not going thru a dealer.

Re: be gentle... good price on 2008 Touring?

Okay... here's the signing price, including all fees, license, title et al:

$26,084.00 with 4.79 financing, no trade in
(we used the costco 1K discount w/a non-costco dealer who said they would match, and then used competitive bids from different dealers to negotiate the rest of the way down from the MSRP we began with.)

Touring pkg 3 w/custom install ALL-leather seats, arm rests, center console (no vinyl mixed in on custom work) AND the seats will be perforated with contrast piping. Heated will add another $350 to the price above.

So, gulp... break it to us, did we do well?

Now by the way, the dealer says he is "trying hard" to find the combo we want... it's been a week since we signed and still no firm date for delivery. He just called today with a message saying he has a pkg 6 in our color combo coming in soon, would we want that? We assume he'd have to get more money out of us... and we are in love with the custom leather seats so it doesn't add up to buy a pkg 6 then trade out seats. Anyone with other thoughts on this?

Our COSTCO dealer gave me a quote for $27189 on an 08 Touring Pkg #6, All-weather mats and after market heated seats. That's over 1K below MSRP w/o mats and heated seats.
I have 4 more months on a lease that I need to figure out how to get out of. A Heavy Duty Avalanche that gets a whole 11 mpg. Can't trade because no one want to deal with that beast in this time of increasing fuel prices.:(

$200 cheaper than mine, AND you get heated seats & mats. my final cost w/ fees is at $27,400 for a package #6 touring.

i'd say you did well. i got $500 more on my trade (compared with another dealer) in than i should be, though, so the deal sounded good to me (they tried to give me $2,000 less on my trade in at first!). i may still fight harder when i go to pick it up.

I am seeing some REALLY great prices in this thread and on this forum. I have yet to take delivery on my 2008 package 6 because of a variety of reasons. Had 2 trips pop up out of nowhere, came back from the last one sick with pneumonia, dealer sold the one I had a deposit on because I was 2k miles away...yada yada yada.

Anyway, supposedly, I am to take delivery next week of a package 6 Touring that stickers out at $29633.00. Did not want the Toyocrap but, the only one coming in had it already on there. Floormats I was going to get aftermarket along with XM but again, it already had it on it.

The invoice "allegedly" on this car is 27,717.60. All the info I can find points to this being an accurate price. I do see the 715.00 MDPH add on AND an ADMIN fee of 701.00.

Looking at some of the prices here on this forum, I am guessing that not all states/dealers have these same fees? Something just is not adding up if people are paying the prices I am seeing and I am "allegedly" looking at the invoice in my hands.

Can anyone clarify or explain why such a drastic difference in prices on the same car???

Now then, let me bring this back on topic and stop my hijack! I too went through Sams Club originally for pricing and they wanted 1000.00 over invoice.

I then went back to Capital One where I have financed my last 2 vehicles and they gave me a price of 300.00 over invoice. I thought this was OUTSTANDING considering the gaining popularity of this vehicle.

I talked to two different dealers in the area that had no problems agreeing to do the deal at 300.00 over invoice and a few others who said "no thanks" even though they are members of the Capital One Auto Buying Program.

Anyway, just throwing this out there for anyone looking to get a good price (and rate) on their new Prius. I have had no problems using Capital One all these years and their rates have always beat everything but some of the dealer rates of 0.0 and 2.9%.

Might be something worth looking at for those in the market!

Then again, if the invoice if jacked up like mine, your deal might not be all it seems. It seems I need to do a lot more investigating now. I thought I was done but, I see I am far from it.

FWIW, I am in NC and deal with the SE Toyota dealers.

    Costco sent us to Gladstone.
HERE'S the DEAL FRIENDS of PRIUS:
In our experience, the Costco pricing just opens the door on negotiating. It essentially shaved 1K off the price, and from there we began to talk turkey. We discovered by asking, that any local dealers will match the Costco pricing.

In the Portland OR area, we got quotes from Gladstone, Broadway, and Beaverton. The BEST quote was from Broadway by far! That said, a friend had a friend at a different dealership, and we went to them showing them our quote from Broadway. They had a fit, but finally said they would match it. We thought we were done... insert the theme song from Jaws here...

We were ready to PICK UP our new car TODAY, and then, WHAM - we got a sly little hitch - dealer said adding heat would be over $600! While my husband was sitting there at the dealership, he phoned me at home w/the news and I got on the phone immediately to Broadway to see if they could 1) find our car in the color et al that we wanted, and 2) honor their price. They were great to work with on the phone, and said they can get us what we want at the price they already quoted... and will even work with the leather installer on the other side of town we really wanted.

We shall see... so we walked away from the car :scared: and are in hopes that we'll get what we want from Broadway. They claim to have the best customer service survey results in the area by far... we'll see. It is a small amount of money we're taking issue with, but hey, why pay the extra almost $400 dollars when instead, we can have that for modifications, right?
