    Hi everyone,

My wife and I traded our '03 Accord EX-V6 for a new '08 Prius yesterday. The Prius is a base Canadian-spec model in Barcelona Red with a Bisque interior. We also have an '05 Mazdaspeed Miata, which in contrast to the Prius seems like a gas-guzzling muscle car (it really isn't!). We're quite happy with both -- one is a highly efficient car that is fun to drive and the other is an extremely fun car that is still reasonably frugal to run.

    Cheers!

    Congrats on the Prius.

What is your mpg on the Miata?

Congrats on the new Prius. I understand the desire to hold onto the Miata, fun cars. I've got a '97 Honda Prelude which I've thought about selling, I drive it very seldom anymore and hate to keep paying the insurance on it, but it only has 85,000 miles on the odo and is in pristine condition, and it goes like a bat-out-of-hell, seems like a true "muscle car" anymore, especially when contrasted to the Prius and the Taco, and yet gets fairly decent mileage, roughly 27mpg on the highway.....although requires 91 or higher octane fuel. I really don't need it, the Prius and the truck are, for me and my lifestyle, 100% of what I need, and yet am hesitant to sell.....

    In any case, :welcome:

Great decision, RS, and welcome to the rapidly increasing number of Prii here on Vancouver Island. I think we now finally outnumber the many Prius taxicabs sighted in Victoria.

Around Victoria, the Miata averages 9.8 L/100 km or about 29 MPG (imperial gallons) or 24 MPG (US gallons). We'll see how it does on the highway this summer.

    Cheers!

Wow you guys are good. We still have more cabs here than private owners... or at least just looking at the main roads. I don't have the actual figures.

How's your 08 treating you? Any differences you've noted from the 05?

Nice colour! I would have bought a red one myself if it weren't for the light-coloured interior (kids, ya know).

I saw my first red 2008 Prius here in Surrey just yesterday. You wouldn't have been in these here parts recently, wudja? :D

Actually, my wife and I were visiting friends in Surrey right after we bought the Prius (timed our visit with the auto show a couple weekends ago). We left the Prius on the island though and walked on the ferry.

Thanks! Both cars make me smile.
