We just brought our new Magnetic Gray Touring home a couple of weeks ago, and I'm in the process of making it even more beautiful, if that's even possible. I'll definitely replace the dealer license plate frame with something nicer.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what goes well with a Magnetic Gray? I don't need a frame with a message, since the car is message enough (and a whisper in the crowd here in OakBerkeley). I'm thinking plain chrome will compliment the paint nicely. But perhaps black?

    Hi Del Boy,

I like plain black plastic (or metal) on Magnetic Gray. For your reference, below are shots of my Magnetic Gray with cheap, plain, black plastic frames. Good luck.

I think a thin chrome frame would look good too. Buy both a black and a chrome frame at a store that will let you return the one you don't keep and exchange it for the one you like. Hold each up on the back of your car and choose the best looking. You can also get matching black or chrome screw cap covers to match the frame for a bespoke look.

I have had back plate frames with names or slogans before. I would love the perfect message for the back but it alludes me.

a nice positive message? or a back off my bumper!

nothing seems just right so far.

    Sheepdog (and Del Boy),

Don't know if you've seen this, but there is an inexpensive black frame out there with changeable letters to create your own message:

Note, I've also seen it available at auto parts/supplies stores.

    Right!
You wouldn't want, for instance, your frame to say, "Black Angus" ... than have the 'g' fall out. :D

MY frame? My prius goes naked ... oh, I mean, I have no frame

hmmm. I could advertise PriusChat like your decal. thats one thought.

maybe: "50 MPG is addictive" ?

or " NOT a tree hugger!"

maybe " Hybrid-do not crowd- will explode!" :D

    LOL.

You can always use extra double sided tape to further secure the letters.

I've seen frontal pictures of your naked Prius ... "it" looks like a bent ... ;)

I used the black dealer plastic frame turned over. You just see a thin black frame and on the rear of the vehicle the plastic keeps the metal plate off the paint.

Best license plate frame message I ever saw was on a Jeep driven by a hot chick:

"My other ride is your boyfriend"

Thanks, all! I just noticed that my neighbor's Hummer has plain chrome frames, so maybe I'll just "borrow" them to see how they look. ;) Or maybe not. But thanks for the suggestions!

I've seen chrome frames that have a rolling message using LEDs. That way you can change your message.

I've also seen very nice chrome plates at the dealer that says, "Prius" in a script font.

Mine came from Universal Studios when they had the Back to the Future store. It says:

    BRINGING YOU YESTERDAY'S TOMORROW...TODAY!

    INSTITUTE OF FUTURE TECHNOLOGIES

I've had someone ask if I worked there.:)

Wow, that is really cool, the only problem I would worry about is that people driving behind me would be so occupied trying to read what the scrolling message is that they would end up rear ending me

I always imagined some kind of rear bumper message that could be changed to tell the driver behind you what an ARSE they are being with tailgating or just driving like an idiot, but I would think the rolling LED screen could end up being a big distraction that could cause your car to be hit.

I will probably end up getting a Chrome plate with doggie paw prints on it to match my license plate.

However, what I did buy already for both the front and back plates is a tinted plastic license plate cover to keep my plates from being banged up. I bought vanity plates
and they were very expensive so right now I was more concerned with protecting the expensive license plates.

The tinted plastic plate covers look really sharp on my Driftwood. The tinting is a very light light beige color to match the car.

I saw some real nice smoky colored ones at Pep Boys that would look very cool on a Magnetic Gray Prius like yours.
