    The latest generation V-6 Camry has had well-publicized problems with its transmission, to the point where Consumer Reports rates its reliability below average, and no longer recommends it. This may have something to do with the low sales of the V-6 version.

    Toyota has had some incentives on the Camry Hybrid for the last few months, not sure if they started in March. If so that would have probably helped too.

    None the less, thats a pretty interesting development.

    I drove a HYCam. Very nice but it's a gas guzzler. I drove to Louisville from Lex, KY the other day and got 61.2 MPG in my wife's Prius. Ain't no HyCam ever gonna do that.

    What kind of MPG's were you getting with your Camry Hybrid? I do see that folks can get over 40 mpg (if they slow down a bit on the highway) with it. I'm curious if you were closer to the 33/34 mpg range. Basically, what is your definition of a "gas guzzler".

    I'm glad to see Camry Hybrid sales doing well. Maybe Honda will see this and reissue the Accord Hybrid, but instead of going the performance route, they will go the fuel economy route.

    Maybe someone/anyone from the Big 3 will take note and put something out there that can rival the Camry (and no, I don't count the Malibu as rivaling the Camry).

    im not really surprised the hycam is a nice balance of mpg and hp

    4 cyl = 158 hp
    hycam = 198 hp
    v6 - 250 hp

    your not going to get the 4 cyl b/c it sucks
    your not going to get the v6 b/c thats way to much

    so just like in little miss riding hood hycam is juuuust right

    It's 268hp for the V6.

    The 2.4 litre is fine. We had it in our 02 Camry.

    Two years ago I sold the first TCH we received to a lady in Cinci. We had the exact vehicle she wanted so she was going to fly from Cinci to Norfolk VA to pick it up. She had a family issue which interfered so I drove it to her.

    From E Coast at sea level through the Appalachians through KY to Cinci at a speed of about 70-75 mpg ( 100% Interstate ) I averaged 39 mpg for the entire 655 mi trip. It's no Prius...but it's no slouch either.

    Here are the Cliff Notes. V6 power, more room, nicer interior and better fuel economy than a Corolla.
