You would not have the free speech rights you express here with out all the members of our armed forces that gave their lives to protect your rights.

It is those free speech rights that help protect many things in our life in the United States of America that you hold near and dear.

It is free speech that helps protect the environment. The Chinese do not have free speech rights and that is reflected in the environment in China.

Every time I meet some one who has served on our armed forces, I say to them, "thank you for serving our county".

I not looking to start political arguments and I try to stay away from politics. Most people have deeply help beliefs about politics that is not going to change. I see no point in letting politics come between people that would otherwise get along well with out politics. But when I saw your statement about the Marines I had to speak up, and express my free speech rights.

I am very proud of our country and our United States armed Forces. And I feel badly for our service members when I hear someone like you putting them down.

This was a pretty good joke when it was first made up. But like most jokes, it's less funny each time you hear it. We've heard it enough times that it falls pretty flat now.

I'm sorry, but there's not a single soldier today that's fighting for "my rights".

They're nothing more than hitmen for a corrupt & criminal administration -- terrorists, if you will.

And all the people that constantly feel the need to praise and/or thank them are nothing more than brainwashed sheep.

If there were no guns there would be no need for guns and the world would be a better place. Someone needs to be man enough to lead the way to a better world.

Guns don't kill people, people holding guns kill people.
People holding carrots like guns make people laugh.
Replace guns with carrots and they would laugh and not want to fight so much.

I need a bumper sticker, "Carrots for peace!"

I come from a military family, I believe in the military, but, my rights don't come from the military, they come from every man, woman and child who fights for those rights. The military is supposed to protect the country, keeping the people safe to demand their rights, when the military is used, it should be for keeping the country safe, not trying to destroy the country.

There is no greater calling than protecting the people, whether it be our police, fire departments, emergency people, or whoever, they all are equal in keeping the people safe, but our rights have to be fought for by the people, the military doesn't grant us our rights. By using that statement, since rights are being taken away today, does that mean the military is taking away rights also?

The current political situation in Washington is being lead by a criminal, who just happens to have control or our military, and thats where the problem lies. And the NRA is a contributor to the problems in Washington, until we get rid of lobbyists and take back our government, nothing can keep us protected from our political criminals.

That is actually not correct either. China has one of the fastest growing segments of environmental and social organizations of nearly any country. True their country is highly polluted but we play a large role in that degradation and many Chinese people are starting to fight against pollution, degradation, and social injustice. :)

So the air force pilots of the C-130s that are bringing aid to China & Myanmar are hitmen?

My father was career Navy, as were several other of my relatives. They served and protected this nation for 20-25 years. Some of them continue to serve today.

Please consider your words more closely, my little colorful fish. If you want to besmirch the service and memory of my father, brothers, and friends, please come visit me and we can talk about it at length. I would love to show you the flag that was draped over my dads coffin.

How have you served your nation?

Even the mafia & gangs do good things too.

I'm not saying each & every thing the military does is evil, but I also won't cheer them on like so many Americans do.

Our "war on terror" is nothing more than a "war of terror", yet we pretend it's some righteous crusade of sorts.

I honestly respect people on the far right more that actually admit why we're there, rather than the ones that pretend we're "spreading democracy" or "protecting our rights".

"War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself." -John Stuart Mill

That is a completely idiotic quote and lacks imagination. I don't think anyone fits the description depicted above yet so many dumbass war nuts like to think anyone against war must fit that profile. Partiotism is stupid when wielded by the ignorant and moral degradation is far more advanced by those who support war, fighting, and nationalism, enthnocentrism, blind patriotism, etc. etc.

When your country is taken over by criminals and terrorists, and they are allowed to abuse your military, thats not protecting anything, in fact the current situation is actually a declaration of war against America by our own politicians. Iraq is a money pit, draining our country of money, future, and military moral and strength, its exactly what a terrorist against America called Osama Bin Laden wanted.

It makes me cringe everytime I hear a military family sending their child off to Iraq say how its keeping America safe, when the reality is totally the opposite.

So, you say no one fits "my" description, but apparently you think everyone who doesn't share your view on the war fits your description. If the shoe fits, wear it, otherwise, don't. :usa2:

I am sure we can all play the cute quote game. It does not really add anything to a conversation.

You would be correct, no sticker at all, no political sticker, no lobbyist sticker, no Chinese made American flag ribbon, nothing. The only sticker I have been tempted to put on is an Osama Bin Laden loves the Republican Party and Bush and Cheney. ;)

Tell us how crime is doing in Australia after you decided banned private ownership of most guns in 1996. According to your post, you would think that it would be a much better place. However, in reality, crime has risen dramatically.

He is certainly entitled to his opinion, but he doesn't speak for me.
