    Hello Folks,
Please someone tell me where to find the "As built sheet" for a '07 Prius.

I bought mine used, a few days ago. According to the local dealer, it came out of the factory with Package #4 including HID headlights, yet upon visual inspection at home, the headlights do not "seem" to be HID!

    Also,
Please tell me where I can find close-up pictures of the headlights, which may enable me to see the difference and to tell which is mine.

    Thank you all.

    :welcome: Welcome to PriusChat, kayooh!
The reason Bob asks about fog lights is that fogs and HIDs go hand in hand. Another way to tell is to look at the black plastic cowl under the hood at the front of the engine compartment; if you have HID headlights, there will be yellow High Voltage warning stickers on it near the headlights. Both the HID and halogen headlights have the same shape so you may not see an obvious difference.

Thank you guys for the replies.
I had checked for fog lights and there were none!
As for the stickers Bill brought up, they too do not exist.

So either this car was downgraded from HIDs to Halogens (assuming there is a difference in the price of the assemblies) or the database at the dealer is wrong in listing the car as having package 4 and HIDs.

This is why I want to look at the build sheet myself.

    Thank you.

    What's an "As Built Sheet"?

Here's the 2007 eBrochure -- it describes the standard equipment and different option packages:

If the dealer sold it to you as having HID headlights, he lied to you! I'm just shocked!

Maybe I don't know exactly what you mean by build sheet. Are you talking about the window sticker that was on the car when new? Prius are sold with option packages, and each package has different things in it. As the packages go up, the more things there are, for example, if you want factory leather seats, it comes with HID headlights.

What are you trying to find out?

I don't think auto manufacturers use "build sheets" much anymore. Everything on the assembly line is computerized, and workers are likely reading a monitor. Toyota, AFAIK, has never included a build sheet with their vehicles like domestic makers have. If they did, it would be in Japanese anyway. Build sheets were found tucked into rear seat springs or stashed above the fuel tank in domestic vehicles. Check the brochure for the other options on your vehicle to determine what package you have, then threaten to sue the dealership till they give you a free XM upgrade to keep you satisfied.

Are there some cars with no option package at all? I noticed that even Package #1 has an auxiliary audio jack and smart key system. My 07 (that I bought used) has neither. Mine must be the base model then.

    Mine is a 2007 package 4.

As previously noted, it has fog lights in addition to HID lights.

It also has the autodimming rear view mirror with Homelink.

Both of these options came with package 4 and above, so if you don't have them, you don't have package 4.

Wow, I never realized I had HID headlights. I thought they only came on the Touring model. Funny, because I always thought my headlights were great and could not understand why someone would need better headlights.

There used to be a website where you could print out a window stiker based on VIN. I know I'm not much help, but maybe someone else can fill in the location.

Yes, in 2007 there was a base model with no option package. Sounds like that's what you have.

And in 2008 Toyota lowered the price by making a base model that was even more base than before - no trim rings on the wheels, no heated outside mirrors, no pockets on the front seatbacks, no cruise control, no tonneau cover.

    Hi Winston,

You know what's odd? Consumer Reports recently reviewed the Touring Edition, and they gave the Prius HIDs its worst rating. They said that the distance of the low beams on the HIDs were terrible. I'm wondering if Consumer Reports got a car with bum HIDs (maybe they needed adjustment or the self leveling mechanism was malfunctioning).

Here is a VIN decoder that may help. I haven't tried it.

Decode This! Selling Your Car? Get A Free Window Sticker

A Google search shows a lot of software for sale that will print window stickers for used cars that are VIN based.

Thanks to all of you who answered my questions.

It is now confirmed that the car is a package 4 and that it was involved in a frontal collision for which this used car salesman opted to replace the expensive HIDs with the less expensive Halogens!

Furthermore, when he replaced the front bumper, he did not replace the foglights.

Now, I am hoping that he did not mess up the wiring harness, so I can retrofit the HIDs back in the car. As for foglights, they are not really needed where I live.

I would appreciate it if any of you can give advice regarding the retrofit.

    Thank you all.

Even if the fog lights were needed where you live they don't function as fog lights as you can't turn them on with the parking lights. They only operate with the headlights on. Thanks Toyota

I would expect this to be an expensive mod. You'll have to change the headlight housings. The outsides are the same but the insides are different. You'll need a pair of HID bulbs. There is at least one box that sits inline and does something to the power going to the bulb. Someone here must know how many boxes there are, what they do. There is a line that runs back to a sensor on the frame just inside the left rear wheel. You'll need to find where they cut or capped off that wire so you can connect it to the new lights. It is a position sensor that tells the headlights what angle to shine at. The stock fogs are a useless decoration, you will lose nothing if you skip them.
