Circuit City Sirius install.. $130!?!?!?!

If you are talking about the D.E. TOY-SC1 & SC-C1, it's an easy install.
No need to remove any panels, other than lower glove box and right center vent. Then temporarily loosen and displace the white wire-harness box to allow direct hand access to back of radio. 30 min. job.

Circuit City is basing it's price on extensive dash and radio dis-assembly which takes quite sometime, and frankly I wouldn't want anyone doing that. Or they are just ripping you off, If they know what they're doing.

 

I disassembled/re-assembled the dash so many times, I can do a complete teardown to the stereo in 30 seconds. It's not a labor intensive job, at all, unless they do they install like their tip-toeing around broken glass shards. The hard part is getting started with ripping out the vents. Grab em from the top edge and give it a sharp tug towards you, and it should pop out. Don't keep tugging, or you might get a vent or back of the hand in your face. Sharp, deliberate tug.

 

One way is to insert a flathead screwdriver at the top (gently) and twist it.
Another is to use a panel removal tool which you can buy at auto parts stores for like $7.00. This tool comes in handy for many mod tasks.

 

1) Remove glove box and open CD tray.
2) Firmly grasp vent panel at outermost point (where it curves outward at the middle).
3) Firmly press downward and outward on the very top while pulling from the middle.

 

I just installed mine this past weekend. Nothing to it. Everythings comes out easily. The only thing no ones mentioned is the white electrical terminal behind the vent. This does not unplug! There is simply a screw on top and bottom then it just swings out of the way. Also a small credit card size mirror helps to plug into the back of the stereo. The antenna to the back of the car is an easy run. A gentle pull everywhere will pop all the trim and it goes right back on. I chose to mount the antenna on the back roof just below the existing antenna then running the wire under the roof panel to the passanger side rear top door to the bottom of the rear door then under the inside door trim. (It will run by the rear air bags from the roof panel to the door but not a problem)

I think blazer was kidding, but I bet you could probably find a Priuschatter to help you out for free, depending on where you live.

It really is very easy, though (at least when you get past the fear that you're going to break something when you're pulling off the vent). I'm not particularly a "car" guy and I managed my DICE install just fine.

the $500 the dealer wants reflects last year's sirius solution. it can only display 10 characters, dont get it. the scc1 and sc1 whatever is a newer solution and much cheaper.

when i went to circuit city's website to inquire about sirius, they didnt seem to stock the actual interface, just the universal tuner. ? is this just recent?
