thanks bill, I tried that and it didn't improve anything. Both computers are at home on the same network and I hav enot made any changes, but my main desktop computer simply will not connect to PC any longer but has no problem with any other site. I've also removed the 'allow cookies' for this site in hopes that would help and i also deleted the shortcut in hopes but all to no avail. aNY one with any suggestions would be appreciated. thanks mj

I'm trying to figure this out for galaxee and a few other users who have emailed me individually. Not sure what the problem could be right now.

Could it be an issue with a particular browser? IE or Firefox?

I'm not having any issues now, although I was having problems connecting from my home network when this thread started.

I have no trouble accessing this site from about six different computers, but I do have problems from one laptop, and only when using Firefox (IE7 is normally ok). I think it may have something to do with some Mcafee security suite that is installed on it, which is not on any of the other machines. I haven't traced down the problem, but it is very odd. If it's not the Mcafee software, it may be some other browser add-on or other security software causing the problem.

    hi folks...

well, i can only post to PC on DH's computer (just got it recently). and that chops both our productivity levels, so that's pretty much not a workable solution for us.

we are both using firefox 2, both have mcafee security (same setup, same version, etc). i have tried on my computer using my preferred setup firefox, firefox with all add-ons disabled, ie tab in firefox, and ie 7. no luck.

have tried clearing browser cache, cookies and etc. also cleared dns cache, reloaded dns, tried a program that manages dns entries, still no luck.

this happens while i am at home and while i am at work so it's not a network specific issue. it's something with my computer, but damned if i can figure it out.

For those that cant access priuschat can you access any other websites? If you can its one of two thing that I can think of.

    1. priuschat is being blocked by a firewall or some kind of site blocker installed on the PC.

    2. your ISPs DNS has not refreshed. If you know how to change your DNS servers you can always use the openDNS servers. I'm currently using openDNS servers and I can access priuschat just fine. You can also try to use a proxy server like Free Proxy Server - Surf The Web Anonymously - Protect Your Privacy! If you can get to priuschat with a proxy or a different DNS server that means your ISP has not refreshed its DNS.

it's not that the site is being blocked per se-
when i use the priuschat.com domain name, i get the message danny posted while the site was moving to the new server. i can use the ip address in place of priuschat.com and view pages. but they don't appear right- i sent screen shots to danny. and i can't post replies, just read.

i have tried my computer on 2 internet connections. it doesn't load PC on either. DH's computer gets PC just fine on our home internet connection, which says to me it's not the isp's dns issue. i even downloaded a dns server for my own computer and that did not fix my issues.

everything else on my computer is running just fine. haven't made any changes, i barely had time to start the thing up while we were on vacation for 2 weeks. (last time i really spent any time on the internet was late april.) i still hit all my other regular sites without trouble.

so if someone can figure THAT out, more power to you. i have no idea.

My problem is not due to DNS. The same problem occurs when using the correct numeric IP address for priuschat.com. And I'm pretty familiar with this stuff, having first set up a Sun SPARCstation on the Internet in early 1994, with sendmail, named (BIND server), building the Mosaic browser from source code after downloading it from ncsa.uiuc.edu, etc. I've tried most of the obvious solutions.

My desktop and Thinkpad laptop have no problems accessing this site when I'm at home. It's only a rarely-used Sony laptop that has the problem from home. My curiosity is piqued - if I have time this evening I'm going to try to figure out why the one machine has problems.

The problem on my Sony laptop exactly matches the description of what's going wrong on Galaxee's machine.

I figured it out. My hosts file had an entry for priuschat.com. I probably did this a long time ago when the IP address of the server changed and the old address hadn't yet expired, so DNS was providing stale information.

Solution was to edit c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts and remove the line with priuschat.com in it.

Not sure why IE was unaffected but Firefox was.

I have been without Priuschat since the server upgrade, mine just started working yesterday on my home computer, still does not work on my work computer, both give the server upgrade message. My hosts file here at home only has localhost and nothing else, have not checked the work computer but will do that next week. I did not have this problem when accessing from other PCs that never went to the site, and never had a problem with the other server upgrades. I can only assume it has something to do with the Priuschat server keeping track of ip addresses that access it and something is misconfigured. At work I have a static IP so it is never going to change. At home, I use dhcp so maybe my ip changed and that's why it started working. Just some thoughts.... Those still not working who use dhcp, might try opening a command prompt and entering " ipconfig /renew".

If you're getting that "server moved" message, you are one way or another still using the old IP address. If the stale information is not being provided locally from a hosts file, your DNS server must be providing old information.

I'll assume you tried all of the other suggestions and none of them worked for you. What does typing the command "nslookup priuschat.com" in a command window say? What if you try to ping priuschat.com (type "ping priuschat.com in a command window).

    C:\>nslookup priuschat.com
    Server: local.gateway
    Address: 192.168.1.1

    Non-authoritative answer:
    Name: priuschat.com
    Address: 67.227.135.51

If your DNS server is providing stale information and you can't solve it otherwise, you can do what caused three of us the problem when the server IP changed and our local hosts file had outdated information: Add an entry for priuschat.com, but give it the new IP address (and don't forget to remove it once you no longer need it so it doesn't cause problems in the future).

The line with the old IP that was causing problems was:

    72.52.166.5 priuschat.com

    You could change this to

    67.227.135.51 priuschat.com
