Man, that would be tempting at that price. But, IIRC, those won't work in my '04 Nav...correct?:noidea:

    Dr, Fusco.

My Prius Tech took the existing CD out of an 04 and 05 then put in the
08 Updated CD into the drive and he said works just fine ?

Why would you think it wouldn't work in our old 04 Gen II ?
I thought Toyota has the "Updated disc available for all ToyotaLexus"
vehicles with the GPS NAV feature ? Thought that the Updated disc has more info in it that wasn't available back then when Nippon Denso burnt it?

Because the hardware and features are different. It'll take some searching, but I'm pretty sure it requires a different disk...but my memory of the details is fuzzy.

Let me clarify...the data portion of the disk is probably the same, it's the operational portion that's different.

I'm pretty sure that when you order an update disk you have to specify the model year of the car and that the parts numbers are different. Maybe you could check with the parts dept. when you have a little spare time and see what they say.

If they are, indeed, the same disk I might be interested...the one thing I'm worried about is losing my Easter Egg override of the NAV...that I do NOT want.

TheAnnoyingOne, Nice name for owning this statement!

Not quite that way, My Fleet Guy has the permission to sell the removed DVD-Rom from its importer that shipped vehicle to China..
If these items came from an obscure origin, won't even disclose the source.
If Owner says, you can do anything with them, then what is your objection for me to post them available for sale at _Discount_GPS DVD - ROM is for sale without any legality issue? Is there ?

Any Judges and Jurors out there? Need comments and opinions please.

It seems to me that the DVD won't be much good to the Prius buyer(s) in China because the map data is for the US. Also, the three language options are English, French, and Spanish, so that may not be very useful to a Chinese owner either.

As far as selling the DVD, it seems reasonable to me that the DVD is sold for a discounted price. It is used, as it was already installed in a vehicle and doesn't include tech support or a warranty. It seems like the same situation as buying a part from auto salvage - the part is perfectly usable, but it is no longer needed by the previous owner(s).

My check is already in the mail for one of these - I am tired of pushing the "I Agree" button on my 2007, however the retail price for the upgrade is kind of expensive for me since I don't actually use the navigation all that much. I am thinking after I eliminate the "I Agree", I will begin to use it more often.

I received my DVD from Rickey last Saturday and installed it in the Nav ECU of my 07 Prius. It works as expected; the "I Agree" screen is now replaced with a different screen that warns you not to stare at the screen while driving (or something to that effect) and then dismisses itself a few seconds later.

Good price and Good transaction. Thanks Rickey.

Re: 08 Upgrade DVD Rom Navigation GPS for sale

    More testimonial for the sceptical.

Your Toyota Navigation Disc arrived right on time. I installed it easily
and it immediately became operative without any wait period.

I am very pleased with my purchase from you and if you have any other
customers timid about dealing with an unknown person have them email me.
I will be happy to tell them how good my experience was with you and how
satisfactory the disc worked in my Prius.

    Thanks again

Rickey, could you double-check? My understanding (based on posts elsewhere, especially the thread that Metro started) is that the 2006 MY nav unit is the current gen -- that is, it should use same disks as '07 and '08.

(The difference being that the MFD screen went from analog to digital, and got higher resolution, IIRC.)

Just checking, because that's a great price, and owners of 2006 models would benefit the most from the more current data.

    Thanks!

    Hello tkil,
No the 06~07 and early 08 model released last year uses version 6.1 Disc. The Discs that I have is the version7.1... I recently added a CamBryd to my stable, an 08 but early model last year. Had the "Agree" warning but took that Disc out and it said 6.1 ! So I slid the late 08 into my CH the ones I'm offering to this forum and voila! instantly upgraded and no more annoying "Agree" also checked, an 09 Camry Hybrid Disc and is same as mine the late 08's, it says version 7.1 !....So even the 09's are using version 7.1 which I have and offering here.

I believe that the 6.1 and 7.1 refer to the version of the data on the disk. (Which seems to broadly map to January 2006 and Janary 2007, but I don't know if that's just coincidence or not).

From this post, it looks like there was data version 6.1 available for navigation displays of gen 1, 2, and 3:
    http://priuschat.com/forums/audio-electronics/39216-navigation-disk-update-2.html#post552474

It looks like the 2006-2008 MY Prius uses the same nav display / computer as your 2009 TCH, so the 7.1-data/gen3-software disk from the 2009 TCH works in the 2008 Prius.

It's confusing. Mostly I was trying to point out that your earlier posts listed 2004-2006 as having the same generation nav, when in fact the 2006 got the new MFD and nav.

(But I could be wrong. :)

My suggestion if you have a 06 would be to eject the DVD in your system and see if the part number matches the 07 part number.

My original DVD was 86271-53021(data ver 6.1)

The DVD I bought from Rickey is 86271-53022 (data ver 7.1)

I think that the info posted by SparkyAZ is correct, but I don't have an 06 to check.
