I've been trying to figure out what the 1224 gives me over the 1220 model... Toyota's website (horrible) says the 1224 "with pacakges," but from what I can tell it doesn't really add packages?? Maybe it allows me to add packages and the 1220 is not allowed to add anything at all? I wouldn't think thats what Toyota is about... Could someone help a newb out please?

You nailed it. 1220 is the base Prius. You don't get to add anything (this is basically package 0.) You can add option packages to 1224 (which by itself is basically package 1, at least in theory, I don't have any way of knowing whether or not you can get 1224 without at least package 2 on it.)

If you do the "Build Your Own" thing on the Toyota web site, it will walk you through this, just choose what you want. You can always back-up and make changes.

Thanks for the response! Theres really no reason to offer a package 1 then, It should simply be called standard features on to the allowable upgradable base model...:D
