Hi. I paid 25995 for an 08 package 6- but had to settle for silver, only color that seems to be available in New York right now. I sent an email to every dealer I could find within a 5 hour radius of my home and got several willing to match my price. Not hard to bargain if you are willing to hop on a train to pick up your new car. Whatever you do DONT EVER tell a dealer that you are desperate to buy, better to act very casual about it and walk away if needed. I bought through Atlantic Toyota on LI.

I am new and still quoting the best price, this morning ,went to Autoplaza, brooklyn and a salesman asked me drive a brand new one to go home in blue color with package #3,non-touring window sticker price shows 25k something( forgot exact amount but below 26K),He mentioned it is TODAY's price only.then I went to Bayridge Toyota to shop around and was told below 26K with package #3( few hundred bucks more than AutoPlaza),but MUST wait 8-12 weeks, but price included MV fee,and tax etc...
I don't know is a good deal or not, I am expectating negotia with him in this price but upgrade to package #5.he aslo told me there is no way to sell Prius at invoice price.not that much room to give out any discount( at least now in Bay ridge Toyota).and Now ,they don't even have one Prius in showroom, hehe,Prius is Too Hot now.thanks!

Picked mine up last Thursday. 2008, Silver Pine Mica, Package #5 w/ floor mats.
$25,749 before tax and tags. They have since raised their prices about $500 and tell me that The MSRP will be going up $300 at the end of the month.

    RhythmDoctor,

I hope your dealer(s) hold to their word & NOT try to put any "dealer-installed" options on your car to drive up their profit, but be aware (if you're not already) that the port (where the boat offloads the Priuses) often loads up the cars with PIO (Port Installed Options) to help guarantee that the dealers get additional profit. Once installed at the port, they will NOT be removed for you, as the dealer must pay Toyota for the car "as equiped" when it comes off the trailer onto their lot.

However, if the dealer is a good one & he knows your desires ahead of time & he transmits your request (specific to the s/n of the car(s) they designated for you) to the port before the car comes off the boat or before it goes through processing at the port, all the noirmal PIO's can be left off (or only any specific one you may be interested in can be added alone if you like).

paid 22,072 for a gray package 2 in boston on april 30, floor mats included. There was then an additional ~$400 in documentation and title, plus 5% sales tax. They also gave me $400 towards my downpayment (so i guess the car was then 21,672) for being a new college grad.

Thanks for the heads-up. The car was due to arrive in the port on May 13, so it may be too late to prevent any PIO's. At what point can the dealer determine what was added at the port? Do they have to wait until the car arrives to see, or is there a manifest they could look at right now? I don't want to drive 100 mi. and get an unpleasant surprise. If they added body side molding or some other small thing that's OK, but if they added a $450 satellite radio that I have no use for, I'll be really upset.

Edit: I think I'm safe. I just went back to the email quote, and here's the beginning of it:

Here are all the options for a package 2 Prius:
We are currently selling this vehicle for $22,598.00, plus $118.00 for a temp. tag and Dealer processing.
Factory Installed Accessories: FE HG HZ
Port Installed Accessories .....: CF DK

It makes it pretty clear that the only PIOs are carpeted floor mats (CF) and preferred owner's portfolio (DK). I'll just have to make sure I don't get hit with any dealer options.

I did get some unwanted dealer options on my 1986 Acura. When I went to pick it up they asked me if I would like their optional center console ("no"), rear mudflaps ("no") or wheel well trim ("no"). Then they confessed that they had already installed them hoping I would want them, but would not charge me for them. The center console was great, but after several years I realized that the wheel well trim trapped water which caused serious rusting in the body. By then it was too late to do anything about it.

    Hi again, RhythmDoctor,

If the boat is late or the port hasn't processed your car yet, your dealer should be able to look at your VIN # & prevent anything from being added. Things like body side moulding & satellite radio don't go in at the port---those are usually only dealer-installed items. As far as I know, PIO's are only : floor mats, cargo mat, cargo net, wheel lock lugs, clear rear bumper guard, folio (for your manuals), maybe the glass breakage sensor, & an overpriced first aid kit. I may have forgotten something or they may have added other things for the port to install since I had my refuse/accept list for my 2005 purchase. I hope this eases your concerns & that your dealer still has time to intervene.

I've been pricing around. Found a dealer that had 4 USED 2008 package #2's on the lot. They were rental cars and each had about 10000 miles. Asking price..... $29900 FIRM. Could not believe it!!!!!

Wow - Prius_GT that is the exact car I just bought a couple weeks ago. I can't believe they have gone up that much, though! I paid less OTD than your price before tax, etc. but I pre-ordered 3 weeks before picking it up in Denver. It is still a great car - I hope you like yours as much as I do mine!

It used to be easy to get a prius in California. Not anymore. Most people are getting their cars at MSRP. Some people already started to wait here. I paid too much for my prius. My 04 lexus was under water and been in an accident so I traded my lexus in, had to lost 4000 on that car and pay ful price on the prius. Oh well. the gas savings will make up for this.

The original sticker I have off my car with option 2 and floor mats, just delivered , is $23909.
Base $22475(not Touring), option 2 $1175., Floor mats $199, delivery $660, Extra value discount $600. That's right off the boat at Newark, NJ. Original option 2 price is $575, so I guess the $600 discount gets you the original $575 price.
A reputable dealer, such as mine, will not pad the sticker price--except for tags and doc fees of $100 or so.

just paid $23,500 Option 2, spectra blue mica

I live in Alaska, and had negotiated $22,500 for an Option 2, Seaside Pearl, with dark gray interior. I waited 6 weeks for the interior color I want (and need with kids and dogs and a horse). When it arrived, they had screwed up, it had a bisque interior.

After much strife, I called the local dealer here in Alaska and explained the situation, asked if they would accept $23,500 (since I'd have to pay $1009 to barge it up from Seattle and their destination charges are only about $650). They were VERY nice (Mendenhall Auto, Juneau, Jason) and called back in 15 mintues to accept. I'll know for sure tomorrow the exact color and estimated arrival date as they have a large regional event to distribute the incoming vehicles - but the order of preference is spectra blue mica, seaside pearl, and that dark gray - all with dark gray interior and I already ordered the set of weathermaster mats - full set.

I's so excited! I'm selling the Subie - no more weekly $50+ tanks of gas!!!

Cannot find them in Virginia. I found a very clean 2007 certified Toyota used Prius, Did not save a ton, but got a good deal. Also benefit of the remainder of factory warranty, full 7 yr drivetrain warranty and upgraded for the full platinum wrap around warranty for a discounted price.

I think the waiting time for new will increase substantially and the used ones will be few and far between. I feel lucky on the find and deal that I got as they are just not around this area.

Dealers are also taking full advantage of the lack of supply and huge demand when ordering new. $500-$1500 (depending on the dealer) non-refundable deposit to get on the list. If you change your mind while you wait, you lose your money....sad.

Again, I am thrilled and lucky I picked this one up when I did

I just paid 33.4 (with tax and license) 4 days ago in Industry, CA. It was a tough swallow, but was the last one on the lot and had all the options I wanted (metallic grey, touring edition w/ pkg 6). The car is awesome, but still feeling the post spending pains! In all I feel it was the best decision since I can't find any deals out there, not to mention the high demand right now. Any thoughts? Am I being too happy or did I pay too much?

After searching at least 10 different dealers and getting a royal run around, I finally found a 2008 package #2 for 23,909. I called this afternoon and was told they had one left and raced on over there traded in my 96 Rav4 and drove home a very happy man. I now just have to get my $200 deposit I left at two of the dealers. I love this car!!!! BTW I bought the car at Hudson Toyota in Jersey City. After dealing with so many lying salesman these past couple of week, it was such a pleasure dealing with them. :D
