So I live in the Bay Area (CA), and in California they only sell the Touring with package 6...Fully Loaded. I thought I'd settle for a standard Prius with option 2 until I found out Nevada (just a one day drive) sells Tourings with Option 2. I called and found out that I don't pay Taxes in Nevada (just CA taxes on the vehicle when I register the car here) but my girl asked an interesting question...

Q: For maintenance, can I take it to any Toyota Dealer or just the one I'd purchase from in Vegas?

    Thanks in advance!

You can take your Toyota to any Toyota dealership, unless you pre-purchase some type of maintenance plan from the dealership that you buy your car from. My advice is to not purchase the maintenance plan.

You can also get warranty work done at any Toyota dealer, don't let them tell you that you can't.

My Acura was originally sold in Dallas, TX, I live in Silicon Valley, and I was on Xmas vacation in Las Vegas when I got a check-engine light. The Las Vegas Acura dealer fixed the problem under warranty, and also replaced a couple engine mounts at the same time, also under warranty (must've been a slow day in the shop). $800+ of repairs, all free as I was still under warranty.

Also, as a side note, if you wanted the Maintenance Plan and / or the Extended Warranty, please search the forums for either and you'll note that Troy Dietrich from Toyota of Greenfield, CT, will sell the Toyota Maintenance Plan for $895 and the Genuine Toyota Extended Warranty for $995. There is NO ONE else that match his prices, and the Maintenance Plan coupons are good anywhere. :D

In fact, I'm late for an oil change (10,074 miles currently) and I'm off to Ernie Palmer Toyota in Jacksonville, FL that will accept my maintenance plan coupon (I asked before I purchased the plan):)

When I was buying my Prius, the finance guy was trying to sell me the prepaid maintenance that goes on a card that you use at the dealership. He told me that it was about 800 bucks worth of stuff but it was going to cost me $400. Is there a different service plan or did my guy have a better deal?

Thanks for all your input...you put my mind at ease.......now to figure out why Toyota just couldn't release a Touring in CA without leather and a JBL system?!!?!?!

While you're at it, figure out why you couldn't get a "touring" in Canada until this year, and why now that is all you can get. ;)
