I suspect that one of my transmitters has been stolen by someone doing work in my house. I was wondering if anyone has ever had the code reset so that the transmitter and receiver operated on a new code. If that's possible, I could reset the one on my wife's keychain and thereby defeat the operation of the one that's missing in action. I don't want to wake up and find the prius missing because someone can now start it up and take it away. Thanks in advance for any info. I can always call the dealer tomorrow. For now, it's locked in my garage with the mice.

search the technical service bulletin section... there might be a procedure posted there
or you might have to search other websites for this..

my general feeling is that the dealership wants to make money and he might
charge you to replace the entire ECU, but there is a way with the hand held tester
or the toyota tough book laptop which the dealer has to erase codes one by one
    and enter in new codes.

The car is programmed to recognize each fob. Your dealer can remove the stolen fob from the list, but they will charge you to do it.

You must book an immediate appointment with a Toyota dealership to have that fob removed from memory. Note if the fob has been stolen, they will still have the metal emergency key, and could still enter the car. They just couldn't start it

Most dealerships should be well versed on how to program fobs by now. There have been horror stories of it going badly. Wishing you luck
