They are components connecting your portable Sirius receiver to your sat capable MFD (all out of site - OEM style).
This way you can control your Sirius through your MFD touch screen but also take your portable Sirius receiver out of the car and use it elsewhere. ((that's why I like this option [portablility] as opposed to a permanent receiver in the car))

YES easy to install, assuming your OK with medium dash disassemble, as the connection needs to be made behind your MFD/Radio.

Here is a .doc(word file) link for more info w/pics on the installation process

I don't think XM has any advantages over sirius as far as content goes. I've had rental boats and stuff like that with XM, it was okay as far as content. Then I bought a truck that came with sirius and it was much better. I listen to a lot of electronic/dance music though. There is a couple dollars of price difference though in the monthly payment, fortunately I have never paid a monthly fee. I'll probably just start plugging an mp3 player in my truck when the free sirius dies.

I contacted TSS and they are telling me there is no adapter allowing me to use my Audiovox PNP3 to connect to the TOY-SC1 in the same way as the SCVDOC1 does for Sirius brand portables. It is a shame as the PNP3 is a good unit. Now I have to spend more money on another tuner.

So this gives you full functionality through the MFD/steering wheel controls...for about $150??? Is this what Toyota installs for $450?

If that's the case I will get one for my wife's Prius that should be here within a couple weeks...find out for sure tomorrow.

Yes. My dealership actually quoted me $720. I bought the interface and tuner for a combined $150 and did it myself. There are a few threads on this in the Audio/Electronics forum (may have to look back a page or two).

My wife drives the Prius more than I do as she has a long commute, and I installed it for her on her birthday. She loves it. I highly recommend it.

Another benefit to DIY is, (I think) Toyota dealer installs, besides way overcharging, use a permanent fixed receiver, where as using the toy components let's you retain the mobility of your portable receiver (if your starting with one) for use outside of your car too.
