I just checked the inventory of Prius from the dealer I bought my 08 from, and the 2007 used package 6 Prius they were trying to sell last week for almost $33,000 has now dropped in price to $29,900, I guess they realized that people are not as desperate as they thought, This 07 package 6 has 21,830 miles on it. I was shocked last week when I saw they were trying to sell it for $32,990, I guess they realized that price was too high and nobody was biting..

Now, they have another recent addition, a used 2005 package 6 Prius that has 57,000 miles on it and they have it listed for $26,900

Would any one that is still looking for a Prius be willing to pay almost 27 grand for a 3 year old car with 57,000 miles on it??, To me, that seems a bit overboard.. I would rather just put an order in for a 2009 model for that price.

I guess many of the dealerships are hoping the hype will make someone desperate enough to pay these prices..

if i was a dealer i would probably want to troll the market for the used models
by putting an optimistic price on it. as always the price can be lowered by the
    dealer to make the sale.

also do you know if they are asking more then MSRP for 2008s? if that is the case
all of a sudden their pricing makes a warped kind of sense.

I believe that PT Barnum had something to say about this.

I think it's generally a good sign that the panic seems to be dieing down. As long as that '07 actually sells for a reasonable price, we should be OK. When they stop selling, or when the price gets too low, then we're in trouble.
