Is there an easy way to find out?

I know that some states, including my own, Massachusetts, require Toyota to cover some of the hybrid components, including the engine battery, longer than the standard Toyota warranty (up to 150K). Is there a definitive list somewhere of which states have this protection in place?

    Thanks

California has extended warranties up to 10 years and 150,000 miles for the "hy-brid" portions of the system and emissions system components. SOmeone will have to detail what this exactly covers. I don't have the info with me right now.

California requires that manufacturers guarantee the emission system performance in order to be certified as PZEV (partial zero emission vehicle) or AT-PZEV (advanced technology partial zero emission vehicle).

Background Material: 2005 Zero Emission and PZEV Credit Vehicles

So, California and the states that have adopted Calif emissions standards have the 15 year/ 150,000 miles warranty for the emissions system. The warranty is 10 years/ 150,000 for the HV battery.

    The states are :

Just curious, but is it based on state of residence or state of purchase ?

I'm presuming state of purchase, because Canadians buying from US have warranty in Canada (just like Americans who travel here), but Toyota US pays for repairs.

Thanks for those links. I didn't see any reference to the 10yr/150K for the HV battery in those links. Is that a Toyota warranty or is it associated with the legislation you mention?

Further, if you buy the car in CA but register it and live in a different state, does it still qualify for the above mentioned warranties?

    Thanks,
    ualdriver

The 10 yr / 150k warranty on the HV battery is the Toyota warranty in the CARB states. IIRC, the warranty is 8 yrs / 100k in non-CARB states.

I am pretty sure that it is based on the original state where the car was purchased. I believe it is written in the Warranty suppliment which I do not have with me to check.

Thanks, Dogfriend. (Are you a friendly dog, or a friend of dogs? I love dogs.)

Someone I know on another message-board has convinced herself that there is no additional coverage in her state, California, and while I know that is not true, I haven't been able to convince her. So I will stop trying. But thank you.

ETA: Dingo looks just like a black version of my yellow dog Trixie, who is a rescue from Puerto Rico. She looks like a classic Carolina Dog or other dingo. In fact, her nickname is Dingus.

Dogfriend was one of the nicknames we used for our late friend, Penny.

Funny. That's what my window sticker says (yes; I still have my window sticker from our nearly three-year-old car), but the warranty booklet adds Connecticut, New Hampshire, New Jersey, and Rhode Island to that list.

It's of particular interest to me, since we bought our car in CT.
