I guess more generally, when does the Prius model year end and the new model year usually begin. Is it the same month every year or does it vary? One dealer told me August, but you know how reliable dealers are.

April '09 isn't far away at all! Is this a confirmed date or a guesstimate?

It has to be a total guesstimate since nothing has actually been announced yet. And probably an optimistic guesstimate, at that.

September is what I have been told by Toyota.

Toyota is shooting for April with the 2010 model, but often those dates get pushed back ... anywhere from April - September is anyone's best guess.

As far as the '09s, I'd say they'd hit around late-August/early-Sept.

whenever we bought the 06 prius we got it in october of 06 and it was difficult to still get the 06 because the 07's were all that were shipping in (we wanted it because of the tax breaks). So I'd assume that September would be when they are shipping in.

I bought my '08 at the end of September last year, so the '09 will probably be at the dealer's around September.

The 2009 Prius will be line-off (first one rolling off the production line) in August 2008.

The 2010 Prius will be line-off in April 2009. You can start looking back at the posts from the fall of 2003 to see how the wait is going to go once the Gen III Prius hits :)

To answer everyone's question, the Gen III will ship in a year. Gen IV will also ship in a year.

The hard part is figuring out WHICH year. :D

In Florida some dealers are charging $3000 to $5000 over sticker price for the Prius. I was even told that I could get the same or more than I paid for my '07 Prius with 6000 miles on it! I guess I could revert to my 1968 IH Scout for awhile again.....mmm

When I picked up my new Pkg. #3 yesterday, the salesman showed me a '07 Pkg #2 trade-in that the dealer had taken in the night before. It had 14,000 miles on it and it was sold that morning for $29,900. The dealer sells new Priuses at MSRP.

Hey tax (or anyone) why pay almost 30 grand for a 1 year old vehicle with 14,000 miles on it when a new one goes for MSRP (wait time ) ?

Yep, figure about 45 days after those 'line off' dates for the vehicles to actually arrive here.

The 5 yr anniversary of this Gen 2 will be about Oct 10-15th, maybe earlier on the WC.
