Another thing I dont like about the prius is that I cant adjust the fan speed. I have to push the climate button on the screen and then push the fan speed I want.

Why toyota did not just put a fan speed on the dash or steering wheel is beyond me.

I am not crazy about how the auto feature works. I prefer to have the AC just blow super cold air and I adjust the fan speed up and down. So Im looking for a way to control the fan with the temp butons.

    SO

Is there a way to tap into the fan speed and tie it to the temp up/down buttons on the wheel?
(if you cant help here please dont post)

Im am willing to do this mod and post the pics and how to.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT TURN THIS INTO AN AUTO WORKS FINE FOR ME THREAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!![/quote]

Sorry, I just couldn't help myself.

Hopefully someone here has advice on how to make the modification you are looking for.

Well, auto works fine for me... ;)

I'm a little confused about your request though, I suppose. If I want auto, I set auto, and I expect everything, including fan speed to be regulated by the auto system. If the temperature is really far from what I set it to, I expect the fan to run higher to change cabin temp quickly. If I want a certain fan speed, then I expect the fan to stay on that speed regardless of if it's getting colder or hotter than I want.

This seems like one of those "problems" that a paradigm shift can cause for some users. You and I were familiar with how it works on "dumb" cars: You control every aspect with physical knobs and dials; with the heat on, it just keeps getting hotter until you hit that dial again. When someone gave us a product that didn't behave how we expect, the first thing I said to myself was, "well why doesn't it work the way my old car works?" Then I tried it their way and got hooked. It's way easier to just use the wheel buttons!

Anyway, it might help you to rationalize it and learn to like it because I don't think you can make that mod just by splicing some wires. I think you'd have to reprogram some things too.

You CAN set the fan speed on the climate screen.

That's what the OP said he was trying to avoid doing... I misread that the first time through as well, but his objection is having to hit "Climate" first and THEN adjust the fan speed.

And that's a slippery slope... after that he'll want control over when the CAR starts and stops moving.

GOD HERE WE GO AGAIN. THIS FORUM HAS A FEW PEOPLE THAT INSIST ON POSTING NEGATIVE OFF TOPIC GARBAGE!

What is the point of posting off-topic garbage to every thread you dont like?

Some people just like to start fights, make condescending statements and take threads off topic. Its quite the norm on this forum and VERY frustrating. Please make a note of who these people are as they seem to make a habit out of this.

This is why I miss the analog days of climate control. On hot days, you just jump in the car, flick a switch, and crank the dial to the spot with the big blue squares. Hell, I can't even "crank" the volume anymore; I get to rapidly push the 'up' button. To get the equivalent effect, these days, you can pull the temp all the way down to MAX COLD on AUTO A/C. The fan will blow at max speed. You'll find a threshold where adjusting the temperature will also adjust the fan speed, however, the fan speed will adjust as the cabin temperature meets up with the preset temperature.

I have tried to get used to the "auto". I dont like the fact that its slowest speed is still 3 clicks above low. I usually run the fan speed on low or low1. The auto setting only goes to low2. I also dont like the fact that I have to INCREASE temp to slow fan. That makes me want to increase fan because now its getting hotter.

In the winter it's the other way around. In six months you should be all set. Of course by then you will be used to it working the way it does in the summer. :)

That's ridiculous. I just get tired of hearing you bitch and moan about how horrible the car is. You're basically the only one here that perpetually takes that position. Saying that I make a habit out of posting negative is ridiculous. The great majority of my posts are spent helping people and asking questions. I really don't know why you have the car if you hate it so much. Look at your past posts. At least 50% of them are negative toward the car. I'll make a deal with you and disregard your posts from now on.

I was willing to make a simple joke and move on. I even expressed hope that someone who had more knowledge in this matter than me would be able to help you.

Then you go and make dumb accusations. While I have no interest in dragging your thread further off topic, you brought it up so here goes. . . .

"Some people just like to start fights, make condescending sttatements, and take threads off topic. . . .PLease make a note of who these people are as they seem to make a habit out of this."

Bah, this is ridiculous. I've got over 630 messages posted to PriusChat in the 15 months I've been here. Of those, maybe 10 are sarcastic and off topic responses to whining complainers or trolls. Even then I'm light-hearted and avoid malice. Feel free to check out my posting history. I'm generally inquisitive and helpful. Anyone who makes half an effort will find that your accusations are a bunch of male bovine feces.

Not to take the thread further OFF TOPIC with this garbage.........

When I post an issue with the car ( there are many things I dont like, Im not alone in this category) I always ask for help on wiring schematics etc. to make the change.

    Examples:

    Headlights (not automatic)
    Xm radio
    Fan speed
    Inverter
    Seats (horribly uncomfortable)
Airbag disconnect (as I replace seats with volvo seats---ahhhh much better now)

Every time I ask for help there you or one of your cronies are bad mouthing me and my post while Im asking for help. Lets face it you guys are a bunch of negative garbage posters who offer NOTHING to this forum. You arent making mods and helping people. You just flood each thread with 15 pages of krap.
I have been changing and mod'ing many things I dont like and posting the how to. Why dont you just go away. Go get up in the right side of the bed.

Good Lord ... get over yourself. I've never posted on your headlights, xm radio or inverter threads. On the seats thread I said that the airbag issue was an important one to consider and you freaked out. Whatever ...I've placed you on ignore so you can rant to your hearts content.

I asked a technical question. Why should I "get Over anything".

    So typical........

You come in bad mouthing, get called on it and then you get defensive. After that you start name calling and then declaring the person calling you on your BS to be the reason you posted your garbage in the first place. Look at you, your in a HISSY-TYRADE because I asked how to control fan speed on my AC unit. Makes prefect sense to me
