problemchild, stop causing problems, child. You're sabotaging your own thread (you actually did in post #1 with all caps and a string of exclamation points), so dont' complain when people return basically the same behavior.

As for your complaint about people not offering up the wiring diagrams, why don't you buy a (very inexpensive) subscription to TIS and download those yourself? I'm still going to hazard a guess that both 1. Nobody has done the mod you suggest before on a Prius, and 2. The mod you suggest goes beyond a simple wiring hack.

Best of luck though, and if you accomplish your goal, I'm sure we'd all appreciate a (editorial-free) writeup.

I gotta say, when you start your post with this:

it causes the thread to start on a negative note.

FWIW I usually have AUTO turned off. But I don't know how to do what you would like to accomplish, sorry.

:grouphug:I would think one way would be is to maybe unplug the original wire that goes to the motor and replace it with a fan speed switch from another car. That way the fan will be on its own circuit.

    Hey ProbC;
the answer to your questions is to crack the Prius computer code open and draft new protocols allowing you to do what you want. It most likely can be done.

I've run into a similar complaint from my GF who likes to drive the Prius in that she is convinced that AC means that the Air Conditioner is always running!

She also likes to set a temperature and manually adjust the fan speed.

But if what I am reading is right, the Prius does do what you want to, just with the addition of having to hit the climate button first. Hate to say it but get used to it, as cars become more complex manufacturers will simplify what they can. The end result will be something like what fighter jets have, an ll glass instrument panel. Also kind of like what BMW does. All controls for everything run through one display with multiple screens. Allows for the control of many more features while keeping a simple cockpit.

The only thing they will probably do is let you create a "favorites" screen to put your most used controls. Or they'll do that for you too.

Problemchild.. Your post sounds like you're whining!! Maybe you should ask the same question in a way that is seeking advice versus sounding like you are complaining.. You get more positive responses with honey instead of vinegar..

Unfortunately it is not that simple, you have to contend with the fuzzy logic.

Toyota says, "Fuzzy control has been adopted for calculating the required outlet air temperature and the blower volume in the automatic air conditioning control system. Accordingly, the air conditioning ECU is able to calculate the outlet air temperature, blower volume, air outlet, and compressor speed that is suited to the operating environment."

The Prius uses a Step Less Air Volume Control:
When the switch located on the steering pad switch is pushed, or the air conditioning screen display of the multi display is touched, the A/C ECU automatically regulates the duty ratio to the blower pulse controller in accordance with a calculation result by the fuzzy control in order to deliver step less air volume.
A major factor in blower speed is the
Sunlight Air Flow Control: Controls the blower speed in accordance with the intensity of the sunlight when the air outlet mode is at FACE or BI-LEVEL. The blower speed can be adjusted in response to the signal received from the solar sensor.

If the OP wants to see some diagrams of the logic he can refer to the post on the humidity sensor.http://priuschat.com/forums/prius-technical-discussion/48712-c-humidity-sensor.html and look at the two attachments in Patrick Wong's post.

Reminds me of an old, old song. Wonder if anybody knows it:

"I give you sugar for sugar
But all you want is salt for salt
If you can't get along with me
    It's your own damn fault..."

:second:So I wonder if you replaced the Sunlight Sensor with maybe a Trim Pot would that work?
