Changed oil on Sunday, took off air filter to allow easier pour of new oil. Found three "shredded wheat biscuits" in the air filter thingie.

I thought about pouring in some milk....WHERE do the mice come up with these things...

Too funny. I'm thinking that squirrels, being squirrels, must have did that.

You sure do have a bunch of critters there. You need more cats.

I can hardly handle my OLD cat. He has become more perky with the 90+ weather.

Yesterday, he went out at 4:30 am as I was getting ready to leave for work...Pretty light by then...I went out the door about 4:45 and he dashed in with something in his mouth.

Was a baby rabbit....still alive and kicking. I chased. He dropped rabbit. Rabbit dashed under kitchen table, cat chased rabbit, I chased both.

Luckily cat managed to grab rabbit again, I grabbed cat and sent them both flying back out the door....when I came home about 6 p.m., found rabbit head near where I park and fat and happy cat sleeping on the sofa (hubby let him back in when he left for work at 8)

Sorry Kristi, seemed like your husband wrote the first post.
Must be your husband hiding the cereal then.

Whatever you do, DON'T open your box of Shredded Wheat!!
You might disturb the family inside.

Time to reapply that PETA spray-on rodent repellant under the hood?

    Hi Cyber...,

You need to get some hardware cloth (1/2 inch square mesh, that is zinc dipped) put over the air intake on the passenger side of the car about midway back in the engine compartment. It has a flared shape to it, like a musical instrument horn, but more rectangular. It would be also be a good idea to hang a cheese cloth bag of mothballs in your engine compartment, away from anything that gets hot. The smell from the moth balls will repulse small critters, and being under the hood, it should not waft up to the cabin air intakes.

Milk is definitely contraindicated for the air intake.

Perhaps you should think about providing other food for the critters away from the Prius? I used to leave ears of corn out for the squirrels so they would entertain my dog during the day, but I couldn't keep up with their ravenous appetites.

The furry-tailed rats inhabiting my yard are ravenous, too, but I thought a dog would be more than 'entertained', and might satisfy some of its own hunger. Are there breeds up to that?

Our Min Pin Penny (now gone 2 1/2 years) caught a couple during her lifetime (we found the trophy head of one in her doghouse) but most of them were too quick for her. They usually would just chatter at her and toss down green nectarines from the neighbors tree. She got sick once from eating them.

Our neighbor used to have a German Shepard Dog and I saw that dog catch a squirrel and flip it up into the air. I interfered and allowed the squirrel to escape that day, but that dog was fast enough to catch a loafing squirrel.

My dog Dingo is definitely fast enough, but doesn't seem to have the interest like Penny did.

Err, those were mine. I wondered where the bait went. Seems like the mice are smarter than I thought. You can keep them, I'm going to try a mongoose.
